I was a little hesitant to come here cause of the reviews but I came here & was not disappointed. I live down the block so I will definitely come again(:
So far everything I ordered for here has been terrific. Very friendly family environment with great service and great food. As soon as you walk in you definitely smell the aroma of a Puerto Rican woman’s kitchen.
Very good I love the fact that they make it be order would remanded
First time at this wonderful restaurant food was amazing served very quickly for lunch again food tasted amazing
I ordered the Pollo Guisado and what I got was pale looking chicken with no guisado or frijoles. Very disappointed. When ordering I asked what it came with and what I got was nothing like it was described.
My mom and I were there today...we loved it!! The whole experience is so familiar! It's like going to someone's house in Puerto Rico and getting served a plate of food, they treat you like a neighbor. The owners and their daughter are very attentive and talkative! It's like your having a meal at a family member's hse...I know I said it but it's just crazy! The nostalgic feeling was awesome, I felt so happy eating, listening to typical Puertorican music and watching my mom enjoy herself
No flavor. Potatoes in the empanada were still raw.
Great food reasonably priced
First time here and love it
Just had dinner here last night. We really enjoyed the meal. Everything was delicious. Cute cozy place, loved the Latin music . My husband has ordered food to go in the past, this was the first time we went as a family to eat.I love Puerto Rican food, and I know how to cook it really well. So I am very, very picky. After a long hard day at work, and to tired to cook, El Batey cafe is now my go to home for Puerto Rican food. Try it, we will be go back.

Simply Delicious you have to try this place out if your looking for an Authentic Home made Puerto Rican food ? Linda is very nice and helpful we will definitely be coming back soon with my husband ?
Love the Tripleta, a Puerto Rican sandwich straight from the island made here. Tasty!!!
Deliciosa comida, very delicious food. Jibaritos, arroz con gandules and the empanadas are just so good. Great and friendly customer service!
Food was delicious and fresh. Not sitting in a warmer for hours as other P.R. places. Alcapurrias were the best tasting and most flavorful I've ever had. No place in Humboldt Park near as good.
