Rolled up to Taqueria El Herradero (Pulaski & 68th) last week—threw down about $15 on 3 al pastor tacos and a horchata. Tacos were juicy and well‑seasoned, and that horchata hit smooth. It’s a tiny spot with just a few booths, so it felt cozy—and yeah, got packed fast. Crew was super friendly though, kept everything chill. Would’ve loved a bit more salsa variety, but solid hidden gem.
El Herradero on 63rd & Pulaski is a legit spot for authentic Mexican eats. I grabbed the camarones al mojo de ajo ($11.95) and a couple of soft tacos—one carne asada and one carnitas ($2.25 each). The shrimp were perfectly cooked in a flavorful garlic sauce, and the tacos were loaded with meat and toppings. Service was friendly, and the atmosphere was welcoming. Total came to about $20—definitely worth it for the quality and portion sizes.
Last week I went to this place for the first time and had the Carpaccio. It was super delicious, it's one of the best I've tried in Chicago. The place is very nice and the service is very friendly and good. It's definitely a highly recommended place.
