We got all of the fajita dishes. The steak had good flavor but was a bit tough. The shrimp and chicken were very good but be aware that the tails are still attached. Good guacamole. Drinks were good as well.

My friend and I stopped in for dinner and immediately realized the server had an attitude. He came over and took our drink order and then didn’t come back for a while. The 2 tables next to us who arrived after us immediately got chips and salsa but we didn’t get any until I asked about it. It seemed it was because my friend is black and the other people were white. When we got our food he never came back to check on us but refilled their waters and chips while ours were empty. I ordered a chimichanga and she got a burrito they were exactly the same. When he finally came back I told him they were the same he said no they weren’t. As a local resident I would never come back to this place. The food was lackluster and the service horrendous. They need to do better at training their staff in customer service. Avoid this place at all cost. Especially if you’re not white

Hit up El Mariachi in Lakeview last night—small spot but big vibes with folk‑art walls and a cozy patio. I grabbed the table‑side guac and hot tequila shrimp, then dove into their enchiladas and washed it down with a Cadillac margarita. Staff was chill, super friendly. Legit neighborhood gem—highly recommend swinging by! 🌮

Everything about this meal was a disappointment. The coconut margarita tasted like sour candy. Not a hint of tequila or coconut in sight. The enchiladas verdes had very little flavor and all I could taste was oregano. The tacos seemed off and were wet and heavy.

Do not order drinks from here! We ordered a strawberry margarita pitcher, and there was absolutely no alcohol in it. Vibes was nice but drinks are not it. Oh also the pitcher $58 not worth the price.

This is the cutest little Mexican restaurant!! We went for cinco de mayo and even though it was full, they made sure to get us sat as fast as they could. Service was spot on!! Everyone working was so sweet & gave exceptional service. Horchata 10/10, chicken burrito 10/10, service 10/10. Lots of food for the price. We will be back!! Thank you!

El Mariachi in Lakeview is an absolute gem for authentic Mexican cuisine. I spent about $35 on dinner, starting with their famous tableside guac—made fresh with avocado oil and packed with flavor. For the main course, I had the mole enchiladas, which were rich and savory, just like abuela used to make. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, adorned with folk art that gives it a genuine Mexican cantina vibe. They also boast an impressive selection of over 150 tequilas, perfect for sipping or crafting the ultimate margarita. Whether you're a local or just visiting, El Mariachi is a must-visit spot for a true taste of Mexico in Chicago.

I went for an impromptu date night because it's Margarita Day. I called to see how long the wait was greeted by Anita. She said the come on. We came and was greeted by Gallo. Between Anita and Gallo I don't know which one was better. EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE, FOOD AND DRINK. My guy wanted to try the Torta. Anita made it happen. The steak was tender, well seasoned and tender. The margaritas/peach was phenomenal. This is our new spot.
