Latest review: “The manager needs serious help in the hospitality business. I come here regularly and so does my mom. They even know her name. Unfortunately, after this latest experience, we will be taking our business elsewhere. I ordered a burger with fries, but decided to get tater tots instead of fries. This was a free upgrade per their menu’s description. Choice of fries or tater tots. The waitress made a mistake and brought me a side of tater tots with the fries that already come with the order. I asked to have the extra order removed from the bill since it was not an error on my part. The manager, who was not even on site mind you, refused to fix my bill. I have never heard of place who does not have a manager on site. Laziness. All of this was discussed over the phone with the waitress and not with me, the customer. It’s perfectly normal for a staff member to make an error, but this manager was acting crazy for $4. Just $4. Like sure I could afford to pay it, but the point is to provide, at minimum, decent customer service. Don’t force a customer to pay $4 for a staff error. I felt bad for the waitress. I don’t know what he was saying to her on the phone but the poor girl looked like she was going to cry. From other people’s experiences, the manager is very disrespectful to staff. Which is obvious from their inability to keep employees. In addition to that whole mess, my mom ordered an agua fresca. We have no idea why it had a terrible smell and flavor, we had to send it back. Love El Rey! The food is always on point. The pics I posted are of a plain Taco (de asada) dinner, carne en su jugo, un Taco de tripas doradas and a torta de carne asada. The taco de tripa was crispy and flavorful. The carne en su jugo had just the right amount of spice for me. It had a good ratio of meat-beans and caldo. My sons really enjoyed their meals as well. The service was great, our server was very attentive and polite. They had their backdoor open as well as their front garage-style door so there was a perfect circulation of air coming through. There's also great music playing loud enough to enjoy but not so loud that you can't talk to the people at your table.

My 2nd time here. 1st time was 10+ years ago. I remember it being good.

The food:

This time I tried a lengua burrito. I can honestly say it was the worst lengua I've ever had. The meat was so rubbery/chewy and had an excessive amount of fat. The meat wasn't even cut into small pieces. They were in large chunks. 🤦‍♂️

The service:

The server spoke very minimal English. I ordered my burrito with only onion, cilantro and sour cream. And my buddy ordered a torta but got a taco. 🤦‍♂️
My burrito came with everything on it.

The positive:

The chips and salsa was one of the best I've ever had. The horchata was good too.

After a decade of frequent visits to this local restaurant, this was my last trip to this place. While I support local businesses, this place has significantly deteriorated and gone downhill in the last year.

The takeout service is extremely inconsistent. Half the time, the food is simply trash, while the other half is surprisingly decent or sometimes even great. I recently ordered chorizo tacos, which were incredibly dry stale and clearly old meat. It was a waste of money, and they ended up in the trash. No way I am always paying this much money for almost inedible food. Do you know how old chorizo has to be to be dry???

Eating in is a different story altogether. The food tastes much better there. The only consistent item that can be expected to be good is the steak tacos.

was recommend by a friend not sure to be mad at him or the restauran..... if your looking for an appetizer with a 5 star bill this is the place! you will get lemonade Stand portions, but wait there's more!!!!!!!!!! you will pay full price!

It's very nice and friendly and clean place. The staff is very friendly. The food was good and delicious. I would recommend people to try this place. Also great for family.

I’ve been eating here for 10 years, over the years they have changed many things. However I do come here religiously because I love their food so much and I LOVE their salsa. Some of the staff here on certain visits they have been rude or will answer the phone and just leave you set down without acknowledging the call- it’s usually late so I stopped ordering after 10PM. During the days I always ask to speak to Jenny because she is the nicest person there!
