I also asked for it without onion and it came with onion and a small piece of chicken and no beans.We also ordered a golden tripe taco and it was more raw than cooked.We ordered a horchata and the glass was missing a piece. The green sauce lid was all dirty.I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT AT ALL!

Mediocre Experience with Some Highlights My coworkers and I decided to try out El Rey del Taco & Burrito in Libertyville for lunch today. I opted for the Flautas de Pollo o Tinga, described as Fried Roll Tortilla Filled with Chicken or Beef, topped with cheese and sour cream, served with rice, beans, and salad. To be honest, my experience was just okay. The Flautas themselves were decent enough, but they seemed a bit dry and lacked the punch of flavor I was hoping for. However, I must give credit where it's due--the sour cream, salad, and guacamole did elevate the taste and brought some balance to the dish. Unfortunately, the biggest disappointment was the refried beans. Instead of the expected thicker, more viscous texture, they were more akin to a soupy consistency. It was a letdown, especially since beans can often be the highlight of a Mexican meal. Overall, while El Rey del Taco & Burrito showed promise with their Flautas, the underwhelming beans and lack of standout flavor leave much to be desired. I'd rate my experience a 2 out of 5 stars. El Rey del Taco & Burrito could greatly improve their Flautas de Pollo o Tinga dish by focusing on enhancing the flavor and moisture of the flautas themselves. Additionally, paying closer attention to the consistency of their refried beans to ensure they maintain the traditional thicker texture would greatly enhance the overall dining experience. Moreover, offering more options for customization or additional toppings could provide customers with a chance to tailor their meals to their preferences. Investing in quality ingredients and refining the cooking techniques could elevate the dishes to a higher standard and attract more satisfied customers.

Overall the food is mid and expensive for what it is. Service is "I get paid very little to care so deal with it" type and if you're browse through the comments you'll find some people talking about the blonde older lady at the front by the cashier. Place raise prices whenever they feel like it. One time I went to pick up my order and I was like "damn taco prices a few cents behind Atotonilco" in a playful way...yeah her and some other girl ganged up to defend why the tacos are the price they are in a rude way.

My second time going here my sister and I weren’t dress accordingly, like to go out and eat, and the male waitress, and Older lady waitress with blonde hair were talking behind the counter, laughing didn’t even let us eat was Rushing us they kept observing us. I didn’t appreciate that at all. and there was Another man sitting in another table across from us getting way different and the wonderful customer service you guys have to tell your employees to stop judging customers

I ordered a burrito and torta and man I thought I was in a nightmare restaurant. The burrito was messy because the chicken gisado and was watery and my torta came with a lot of jalapenos cut up in pieces and mayonnaise and cheese instead of crema,ut wasn't what I expected.The food look so gross that me and wife lost our appetite and threw our food away.We had just came out of work so we were tired and hungr,we had to order from somewhere else.If you ever want to order from this restaurant,don't because you will regret it!!!!

The lady at the register was being really rude and had an attitude. She kept going to the bathroom to fix her makeup and was in a hurry to take orders. my order took really long to come out and was not good. The food is not as good as before.

We’ve been going here for the longest time since we live nearby. We recently ordered a taco dinner with 2 tacos de chicharrón (our favorite) and a side of rice. I had eaten one taco and thought it had a weird taste but when I started eating the second, i realized it was tasting like the meat had gone bad. We went back the next day (since we ordered late at night) and we gave them the rest of the dish and asked for a replacement. They said they’d only replace the ONE taco that was left. They were acting like we were trying to get a freebie but we literally only ate one taco and took the rest back. The other food we had ordered, the meat also tasted weird but we didn’t bother trying to get a refund or replacement, since they already gave us a hard time. I hope they work on their costumer service and try to make it right for people. Probably not coming back here anytime soon smh

It’s been a while since I’ve been here but I remember their Desayunos Breakfast being incredible. I ordered the same thing this weekend and was incredibly insulted by the amount of steak it had. Service was terrible also with no water after giving us chips and salsa. No utensils after getting our breakfast. Very unprofessional environment now. I will sadly never return or suggest this place to anyone.

I loved this place. We stopped in and I had the Ala Diabla Shrimp and Chicken plate and it was phenomenal! So much flavor and spice it was delicious. The servers were very nice and attentive. I appreciated the complimentary soup. The restaurant was nice inside and even had a covered patio. I will definitely be back.
