An excellent Mexican joint. Miguel served us and went above and beyond as a host, we felt so welcomed here. The tacos and chile rellenos were delicious, everything tasted fresh and the portion size was very appropriate. Highly recommend!

I had high expectations due to the reviews. Overall, everything was ok but prices are really affordable. The steak was a little greasy. We did enjoy the Al pastor but nothing that would make us want to go back.

Great atmosphere, delicious mexican food.
Truly had a lovely meal and experience just from picking up food at El Tezcal. 10/10 service from what seems like the kindest folks and fresh, *dank* food. I’m so happy to know we live around the corner from this homey, delicious spot. Go here!
First time here, went for family Easter dinner. I had the burrito al pastor and wife had carnitas tacos, with were really really good. Horchata was really good as well. Recommend this place!

Damn good. Still awesome..
the best time to go to this restaurant was a while ago, but the second best time is right now. run, don’t walk, to this place right now. best food, best service, best atmosphere in chicago. i’ll be back at least once a week.
El Tezcal just added another notch to my bandolier of go-to Mexican restaurants. Based on Google reviews, I'd bookmarked ETM and was excited when an errand took me to the Albany Park neighborhood.
I was warmly greeted, told to sit anywhere--I chose a table by the window--and was promptly served with tortilla chips accompanied by red and green salsas.
My server recommended the chicken enchiladas with a rich mole negro. When she said that owner/chef Reyna had just finished cooking a batch--mole is time intensive--I leapt. Served with rice and beans and a small salad, the dish was muy delicioso! An on-the-house bowl of chicken noodle soup was equally good. The tab--very, very reasonable!
El Tezcal is BYOB so I'll definitely be back with my wife and cervezas. Muchas gracias, reviewers, for your suggestion!
We found this place by doing a high rating search, and it did not disappoint! The food was excellent, we went to dine in and the family who runs it is wonderful. We came with kids and had so much fun, great meal and great atmosphere and reasonable prices. We will definitely come back again!
If I could give this place 6 stars I would. Food is, good. . . .
Atmosphere, people, and vibe? 1000% ♥️showed up 13 deep with kids and we had more fun than any BS that typical tropes would lead you to . LFG Tezal. We love you!
