El Xangarrito Mex Restaurant

We were there in May and asked for a free table. We were told that one would be available in 2 hours and that we could make a reservation for that time. When we came back 2 hours later, there was no table free. It had started to rain and so there was no room for us despite our reservation. We thought that was a real shame and were annoyed at first. But nobody can stop the weather. So we decided to just take the food to go. It's a good thing we did. The food was delicious! The waiters gave us good advice and we tried out various different dishes. They were all fantastic. We hope to come back again. Next time we'll reserve for inside ;-)

I’ve written several reviews about this restaurant because I just can’t say enough. Best Mexican food, excellent service. Cute, intimate setting you must try for yourself. BYOB. I’ve gone on record to say that I had the best steak I have ever had, with their skirt steak in their Tampiquena dish.

We were very impressed with the food. Everyone loved their meal. Atmosphere is really nice for a small restaurant. Service was excellent.

This place is a gem in Chicago! From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in a special restaurant. The combination of Mexican food with an international and luxury touch is absolutely perfect. Every bite feels like a renowned chef has put his heart and soul into each dish. The appetizers are to die for! The ceviche is fresh and full of flavor, and the plantain in mole is a unique experience that everyone should try at least once in their life.

The atmosphere is simply magical. The waiters are very friendly and attentive, always with a smile that makes you feel welcome. The music and decoration of the place create an incredible atmosphere, and the patio is beautiful, ideal to enjoy a perfect afternoon. The place is impeccable and, best of all, it is BYOB! I was able to bring my favorite wine and enjoy it with this wonderful food.

Without a doubt, it is my favorite restaurant in the city. I can't wait to go back!

What a delightful experience. I was invited by the new ownership. I love that the reservation has your name on the table when you arrive. The restaurant decor is calm and welcoming with a Mexican fusion in a cafe style. Very romantic!
The food is elevated Mexican with wonderful flavors.

Amazing food and service. One of the best restaurants in Chicago and definitely the best Mexican. We have been here twice when visiting and will always make this a destination. A bit out of the way but worth it!!
