Opentable Diner

Consistently great food for 30 years. Speciallty is Italian and steaks, but the fish dishes are some of the best in the City. Very quick and professional service. Lively bar sceen. What's not to like?

We've been going here for years, and they always OVERDELIVER. Food, service, always top marks. This place goes the extra mile to make you feel welcome and a part of their family. Thanks for another amazing evening.

We love Erie Café. We lived very close to it for 10 years and go back to every time we visit Chicago.

I visited Erie Cafe with six guys from the neighborhood for a dinner that demanded great meat and zero pretension, and this place delivered the ultimate old-school Chicago steakhouse experience. We started strong with the massive Garbage Salad, Italian Sausage with Peppers, and Baked Clams, which set the perfect tone before the main event. Since it was the weekend, several of us committed to the Prime Rib special, and it was incredible—a prehistoric, bone-in slab cooked perfectly rare, served alongside their famous complimentary cottage fried potatoes and a side of onion rings we threw in for good measure. The service was professional, the drinks were strong, and the atmosphere was exactly what you want for a serious meal; if you're looking for huge portions and a classic vibe, Erie Cafe is the spot.

Steak was tuff, not prime at prime prices. Appetizers were good.

Great food portions. Lots of families at around 6pm. I really loved the atmosphere. Felt very comfortable. The food was tasty, had the steak and it was well crusted. Service is top notch. Decor is old school chicago. Nothing to call home about but extremely cozy.

We came here for a new year's eve dinner and was not disappointed. The red wine recommended by the waiter and the food was all terrific. The crab cake was especially good and we loved it very much. Only downside of this restaurant is that on a busy night, it's really hard to hear each other and we had to yell to each other a bit like in a club.

Seafood is the highlight, fresh, simply prepared, and consistently good. Portions are generous and the menu sticks to classics instead of chasing trends. Service is professional and attentive without being intrusive. Prices are on the higher side, but the quality and experience justify it. A solid choice if you appreciate traditional dining done properly.

Not many places still serve Prime Rib of Beef, and here it’s only offered on the weekends. Entrées come with fries and a salad, but I always opt for a baked potato. I don’t eat steak often, but when I do, this is the classic setup I enjoy and they prepare it very well. It’s a great choice if you appreciate traditional Chicago steakhouse dishes. I can never finish everything since we usually order a few additional sides, but the leftovers are always excellent. Definitely worth the visit and make sure to save room for dessert.

Our group of ten had a marvelous time! The food is consistently delicious. One of our party hadn't visited EC for a long time (shame on him!) and he said that his meal was just as great as the one he enjoyed "last time". The service is always terrific - pleasant, efficient and professional = they take great care of us every time we visit. The food is very high quality and a very good value. Don't wait - book a table and bring family and friends!

Jose was an excellent waiter, and the whole staff killed it for us on a busy Saturday night. Our steaks were very good, but my veal parmesan didn't have a lot of taste. My wife's spaghetti with fresh tomatoes and olive oil was excellent.

Our server was not having a good day. He was not nice - even after my husband shared that I'm pregnant.

Great place for a quiet and classy lunch. The skirt steak was absolutely delicious!
