Phenomenal music and staff. The redesign is really awful though. The neon sign above the bathroom feels like it belongs in a corny Nashville bar. The wallpaper is also horrible. I liked the bit of grit this place had but the new look just killed that. Ideally we could turn back the clock, but at a minimum the neon sign must go.

Updating after a second visit since the remodel:
The music used to be good. It’s now just some generic top 40 playlist. This used to be one of my favorite bars in Chicago, but I don’t think I’ll be coming back.

ood took a bit long to get to our table, had to run over and check on food a couple of times only to find out they prioritize by item not necessarily by offer which just feels weird to me.

Drinks were phenomenal! Had a few dirty birds and I never had to wait to order or get service on em.

Atmosphere was decent. Definitely would recommend but it can get cramped in here quickly. There was an incident with one of the workers insulting my friend? The whole thing was resolved already but I felt I should mention it for QA/QC.

Estelle’s is amazing. I appreciate the staffs and managers kindness to me even though I have autism and their food is amazing and really good. Owner David is very nice. The restaurant is in good condition. Great pickles and fries. Must come back. 10/10.

Remodel is terrible. Transformed from a dive bar to a club type feel. Kitchen opens at 10pm now which is too late in my opinion. The biggest thing that bugged me was the terrible playlist. This place used to have amazing music (dark wave, etc) and now it seems like they just play the Pop Top 100 on repeat. Also, the TVs are off now and they don’t play any movies to watch while you drink. This place is probably okay to party but if you actually want to chill and relax I’d say find a different bar.

Came here on a Saturday night around 8:30pm, was able to get a booth and watch a slew of very intoxicated people stumble over each other and call each other boss. The beer options were okay, and the vibe was more of a post club feel, not a fan.

New reno is weird and killed the vibe. New mirrors are great but the neon sign and grass wall are lame

I didn’t eat, but Nicholas is amazing. Great bartender, not only for my meager needs, but everyone in need of help. Great guy.

The bartender At the bar treated my group very poorly. When we immediately walked in, he told us he should’ve kicked us out (told us the owner didn’t like us). Which was odd since we have been to this bar before, but we stayed. For most of the time that we were there, we were ignored and had to walk to the other side of the bar in order to order any drinks. Later on he told us he was unsatisfied with the amount that we were tipping during their happy hour. Upon further questioning, he only counted the cash tips, not the tips on the cards. Therefore, his complaints were invalid because we were tipping more than appropriately. Most of us paid tips on our cards. I thought tipping was based off good service and found it rude that he was complaining so openly to us during happy hour on a Friday night.

At one point, he told my group of 12 to leave the bar and took full drinks away from a few people who already paid. We were not drunk or being rude, we were just a group celebrating two birthdays. When we asked him why we were being kicked out, he ignored us. We calmly tried to ask several times what had happened for this to occur, but we were ignored. Our group has never been treated poorly before this experience and we will be sure to never go back.
