There are so many great Mexican restaurants to choose from in Chicago, but don’t snooze on Estrella Negra. I’m vegetarian and they have my fave veggie taco - sooo flavorful. Plus their beans AND rice are veg. My husband swears by their steak tacos. But we’ve tried nearly half the menu and everything is so. damn. good. Margaritas are also fresh and well balanced.

I went here for Cinco de Mayo and unfortunately did not make a reservation but they still sat me at a table! I’m appreciative of their long list of Mocktails and tried the Nojito (Mojito without alcohol) and it was great! The burrito meal with chicken was good and the side salad had a good vinaigrette dressing. They were so busy though and I accidentally got charged for alcoholic drinks I did not order, but we took some time and figured it out and I will be reimbursed. It’s a small space so it gets super loud in there, but the bright colors are fun!

Everything here is BOMB. Food is fantastic, the restaurant is has a great vibe to it, and the staff always greets us with a smile and makes us feel very welcome. I'm from Saint Charles and make any excuse to come to Estrella Negra. This is a must try!

I’ve gone to Estrella Negra for both brunch and dinner, and it’s great food every single time, no matter the time of day! (Plus, Elena is the nicest, coolest, funniest bartender everrrrrrr!)
My wife & I live in the West Loop and have access to many great food options. Our go-to Mexican restaurant is Estrella Negra in Bucktown/Logan Square. It’s the only place we make the effort of leaving our neighborhood for. Food is excellent and fresh. I love their tacos and quesadillas, my wife loves their empanadas and flautas. We always enjoy our time there. The owner is a great guy. Alena and Justine are the absolute best bartenders/servers. They are kind, personable, and professional. All around great place that we frequent. Try it!

Estrella Negra offers a mixed bag experience. Our server, Albee provided excellent and attentive service the initial impression was marred by a rude and unpleasant bartender/hostess. Unfortunately, the food itself was mediocre and the small dinner plates made for an awkward dining experience with food threatening to spill. To add to the discomfort the restaurant was cold during our meal. Estrella Negra just needs to address its front-of-house customer service.

Stopped here randomly after a long day of shopping and so glad I did. The food…. whew! 10/10 (and i’m picky) I started with their paloma and had a steak burrito with verde pozole. The restaurant is also so cute and their server was friendly and attentive. Can’t wait to try more of their items!

Really love this place. Food has great flavor. Staff are friendly. We have been ordering from Estrella Negra for 3 years now and sadly the portions are getting smaller. We most likely will not come back for this reason as the prices are pretty high.
