Terrible service, unhelpful staff, , and dismissive attitudes. Avoid this place!

I normally don’t leave reviews, but I felt like this needed to be shared. I had a very disappointing experience at Fire Cake Bakery. The employee working at the front counter was extremely rude from the moment I walked in. They didn’t greet me, acted annoyed when I asked simple questions, and made the whole interaction feel like I was bothering them just by being there. The employees tone was harsh and her attitude was unprofessional — not at all what I expected from a place that’s supposed to be welcoming.

The cookies might be decent, but honestly, the service completely ruined it for me. There’s no reason to treat customers like that. I won’t be returning, and I hope the management takes this kind of feedback seriously.

Ordered Mixed Half Dozen for $25.95 (that is supposed to be 3 specialty, 3 regular). When we received our order (online) they didn't include any specialty donut and when we added the price if we were to buy the donuts they gave us individually, everything will only cost $21 in total. We called but the lady who answered the phone said that a manager would just contact us and hang up on my husband. Biggest SCAM!!

Small store with lots of delicious homemade donut, cookie, and ice cream options. Would definitely go again.

Firecakes is a must on any chicago trip for me. Donuts are delicious and never too sweet. Last time I was at this location I had a rhubarb fritter that forever altered my brain chemistry it was so good. If you like well-made donuts with unique flavors you can't go wrong with this or their other location further north.

Highly Dissatisfied with hours of operation. Which stated open til 12a. When arrived at 10:05p door was locked & the crew member refused to open the door stating they closed at 10p. Drove over 40min for these cakes. There were many donuts still available and visible which will probably get thrown away. Just Sad. Very Deceptive business practices at this location on Hubbard on the Heart of Downtown!! When the website clearly showrd they were open!! Won't be visiting any Firecake franchise moving forward!! What way to Start the New Year!

The buttermilk donut and the chai latte was really good ! 😊
The staff needs to be more friendly towards tourists with guiding them on the menu and recommending must have food / coffee items from there !

Im visiting Chicago and was in search of vegan donuts, they have one chocolate/coconut GF that looked like a cake or a cookie w massive frosting and was $5 so I passed but bought a sprinkle one for my niece but the woman that helped me was not nice at all, as if she didn't want to be there. Not a pleasant service.

I'm good, will take my business somewhere else.

My group stopped here for dessert and really liked what they got. Great option for dessert.

I was delighted to see a gluten free option but was very disappointed at the taste. I do not recommend the GF option until the recipe improves.

They’re beautiful but nothing special imo - Stan’s Donuts was better

I’ve only had the vegan gf donut so I can’t say too much. It’s nothing special and maybe a bit rich for my liking.

Firecakes Donuts has some of the most delicious donuts and treats in downtown Chicago. I happened to see this place on a YouTube video and had to stop while on vacation in Chicago. The girl working was so kind and gave us some of her favorite recommendations. Firecakes Donuts has a variety of different donuts that you normally don't see at other places. We got a few different donuts and they were all delicious.

The vanilla cake donut with sprinkles was delicious! The vanilla flavor was spot on, the donut was cooked to perfection, wasn't too greasy, and not overly sweet. I wish they had a few more options for the cake donuts. It seemed heavier on the yeast variety... but that's just a personal preference.
Also, be aware: this is a small place with tight quarters. You walk in, and you're already on top of the display case. There wouldn't be room for more than say four to six adults at a time. And it goes without saying there's no dine in option. But that definitely didn't stop us from eating as we walked. 😊 Thank you to the very friendly girl working the counter. She made it a very pleasant first visit.
