forbidden route did not disappoint. We love this hip brew pub restaurant. The food was outstanding, the beers were excellent. Service was great.
Food was great, gave us some great baby name ideas. Welcome forbidden to the family lol. Goated.
Had a great experience here for West Town restaurant week. Menu was great and the beer was fun. We had a very friendly waiter and had an overall great experience.
I didn't really like the music

My friends and I came in at the end of the evening and we had a lovely experience. Everyone loved their meals — the short rib and the duck confit were delicious! Thanks so much!
Service was so sweet and prompt! Good food and unique beer. I had a flight and the chorizo small plate delicious!
I was so disappointed with my most recent trip to forbidden roots. The beer is always great and food is good but the service today was terrible. My husband and I arrived with our baby a few minutes after opening. There was one bartender, one server and one manager on the floor. The bartender came quickly to take our drink order and explained that there was a large table (of about 12 people) that the server was helping and then she would be right over. Besides the large table there were 2 other tables and ours. The server (Bar B according to our receipt) stopped over before we got our beers for the food order and we asked for another minute. She didn't come back for another 15 minutes, but we understood that we asked for more time. We placed an order for burrata (a no cook dish) as a starter which took over 25 minutes to come to our table. In this time, no one checked on us. I had to find the server to ask if she could check on the burrata all the while or son was getting fussy from hunger (yes, he eats burrata and bread). After we had the burrata, we decided we didn't have enough time to order more food so we asked for the check which took another 10 minutes before we even had the bill in hand. When we went to pay with credit card, we were told the credit card machine was down. We paid with cash before realizing that we were still charged the 3% credit card processing fee...
Went for the happy hour so my partner and I could each try their FR Flight. It was super good I loved nearly all the beers in the flight as did my partner. We were interested in seeing their brewery in the back and they allowed us to look up close. Service was great ambience was chill as we went around 4:30 on a Wednesday. The short ribs are SO yummy. Recommend those as well as the chorizo small plate. Excellent job.
If you’re into trying unique beers, Forbidden Root is a must. The house-made brews are unlike anything I’ve had before—really botanical and full of flavor. I grabbed a rosemary citrus IPA that was wild, in a good way, and paired it with their duck confit tacos. Totally worth the $30 I spent. The vibe here is super cool too—industrial-chic with a cozy feel, perfect for a night out or a casual hang with friends. The staff knows their stuff and made great recommendations. Definitely coming back to try more of their weirdly amazing beers!

Server was at the bar drinking and on his phone, I had to go up and ask for another drink. Really cool atmosphere. Beer cheese was not as I expected, it was more of a brie texture. I wouldn’t advertise it as beer cheese. The idea of the spicy chicken sandwich sounded good but it was not spicy or good. Overall the food was meh, the drinks were good though. I probably wouldn’t go back unless it was just for a drink.

Place itself was so cool! I really like atmosphere and vibe. Unfortunately, host was unfriendly, I wasn’t being welcomed. Food didn’t reach my expectation. Mushroom soup was EXTREMELY SALTY. I was too shy to ask to remake it… Breaded pork cutlet sandwich (schnitzel sandwich) was good but needed more condiment. It was crispy but also very dry. My husband ordered a spicy chicken sandwich, he said it was flavorful but french fries weren’t seasoned at all, no salt or pepper.

If I could give this place a zero I would. I stood up front for over 20 min to be assisted with my pick up order while they blatantly ignored me. It was all of 5 people in there so it wasn’t they were busy. The young lady at the bar with glasses on finally came to assist me but was very nasty in doing so. Also asked me was I lost smh. When she brought me order she damn near swung the bag at me. I would never order from them again!!!

Good beer, spicy chicken sandwich was good size and tasty but not at all spicy, overall food could use more seasoning.
