Just might be the best restaurant in the entire city. They somehow find a way to make the food and experience even better than the last time you were there—which seems impossible given it’s a 10/10 every time I’ve been. The Valentine’s Day setup was extraordinary and the service was top notch per usual. Will be back soon.

had a dry aged ribeye and when it came out smelt like a barn yard usually is a sign of spoilage apparently, tasted okay but didnt eat much due to the smell. Prices are way too high for what you get as well. nice place though

Orecchiette pasta was forgettable. Portions sizes were very small for pasta at the price. Be prepared to wait over an hour for food. $20 for 1 oz of Buffalo trace when the bottle is $27 is terrorism.

Great Italian spot. Generous portions, excellent food, helpful service. We had a large party and were seated upstairs in a more comfortable and quiet area.

I think I would have enjoyed sitting on the dining side vs the bar side, as it felt cramped at times with large groups gathering around the bar.
Overall, the food was good and service was nice. We tried the dinner menu for restaurant week.

The bucatini carbonara was impeccable, as was the kale salad starter. For dessert, try the tiramisu! You won’t be disappointed. A reservation is a MUST. It is packed.

We went during restaurant week and it was super busy, but our servers comped our appetizers and took great care of us. The food and cocktails were amazing!! Definitely recommend!

We went for restaurant week. The food was delicious and the services was outstanding. It's very loud in the restaurant and the drinks were on the expensive side. Overall, great experience.
Went for restaurant week. 100% not worth it. Possibly would’ve been more worth it to just order from the regular menu. Very small portion sizes, clearly not portioned for what you’d get if you just ordered off the regular menu. Was not impressed.

Mixed feelings about this dinner. We made a res and had to wait 25 more minutes beyond our time. They definitely overbooked. While we waited we found 2 spots at the bar because standing area was so packed. We asked if we could sit and they said only if we got a drink. Even though I didn't want one I got one anyway. The drink was actually so delish! The bartenders? Rough impression. They were talking about multiple guests loud enough where we could hear. The worst part was that the bar back was trying to set up new guests with water and the bartender very loudly told him to hurry and move faster. I was honestly so uncomfortable and felt so bad for the bar back just doing his job it made me upset. Took 8 minutes for them to close me out so we could go to our table. Dinner was great our server was so sweet so it ended well but the whole first 30 minutes of this experience was awful. Don't go and sit at the bar whatever you do!!!!
Simply put, this was a great experience. I enjoy Formento's, first and foremost, for the delicious food. I just love the cacio e pepe, but I can't say I've had anything there I did not like. Italian food is one of my top fave cuisines and this is one of the best restaurants for it in the city I've tried thus far. This was my second visit at this restaurant and I'm hoping to visit more often in the future.
Formentos needs to be on your must visit list! Let’s start with the fact that their pasta is made in house and you can taste it! The recipes here consists of food that is made from scratch with recipes from Nonna Formento - the beloved grandmother of one of the owners. It’s full of flavor and that good Italian feeling that can only come from well executed cusine.
Their famous Nonnas meatballs, the garlic bread with the truffle butter in the Housemade giardinara, the Parmesan chicken, the Wagyu fillet - all DELICIOUS! And the desserts? Just wow! They have a new banana tart dessert that is light but lovely if you are a fan of banana pudding and the chocolate cake? I can see why people just come in for a slice of it! It’s so rich, moist and one slice is just not enough!
They have a great wine list and if you ask they are more than happy to recommend a good pairing for your meal.
If you are going for CHICAGO RESTAURANT WEEK - They have a four course meal for $60 which comes with an optional beverage pairing for $39! And their portions for restaurant week are still BIG! I loveeedddd that! The beverage pairing is also very well put together and you get a couple of options for each pairing.
And ask for Louis to be your server! He’s the best!
