I’ve been a loyal customer of Fred & Jacks for 20 years, but my recent experience was beyond disappointing. I placed an order online, intending to simply pick it up, but it turned into an incredibly frustrating ordeal. When I arrived, I politely informed the African American lady at the window that I was just there to collect my food, and she asked me to wait.
While I waited, I witnessed her yelling at three different customers over their orders. One woman never received her milkshake, another man was missing cheese, and a third customer who had lost his ticket was banging on the window. Instead of helping him, she yelled at him to stop banging on her window. After waiting for ten minutes, I asked again about my order, only to have her yell at me as well.
I couldn’t believe the way she was treating everyone, so I told her off because no customer deserves to be spoken to like that, especially after paying for their food. I eventually asked the gentleman taking orders about my food, but I left with a sour taste in my mouth from the whole experience.
For reference, the employee in question was wearing all purple, including an ombré purple shirt. She needs to be fired because yelling at customers is completely unacceptable behavior. Fred & Jacks has always been a place I loved, but this kind of treatment makes me think twice about returning.

HORRIBLE ? why is there broccoli on an Italian beef? It taste like the meat was simmered in car oil - flavorless, greasy meat is tuff and not chopped - literally horrible af! I’m going back to the store with this full order in hopes of a refund

Fred and Jacks used to serve the best Italian Beef sandwiches on the southside of chicago, now the beef is tough and tasteless. You used to have to wait in long lines all the time, this should tell the owners something. The beef is not even being cooked in the open anymore, its unfortunate the word on the street is you don't want to go there it has gone down its not the same. I truly hope they can get it back together I miss the beef.

My family has ordered from here since the 1970's. My dad when he was still with us loved Fred and Jack's burgers. My daughter ordered a veggie taco. I ordered the beef. Her husband ordered the steak. Was a bit cold though. Will try the gyro next time.

I had the chance to eat here 7/20, It was at the suggestion of someone who actually lives in the city. I ordered a double cheeseburger with fries. It was absolutely horrible. Everything was drenched in grease. It was a heart attack waiting to happen.

Great street food! Like tacos, fries, burgers, nachos, and other sandwiches.
This place has seen better days, however the milk shakes are REAL dairy products and real fruit, so delicious! The fries with ketchup put on by the cook is just wonderful. I go here for these two items.
