Fine as long as you don’t order to go. The sizes of their to go portions are far from the sizes of the in-restaurant portions. The Large ramen bowl is definitely very large, but when I ordered it to go, it was so small I thought they gave me a small by accident. Kinda feels like a scam to pay $31 for a small bowl of ramen and a takoyaki appetizer.

Food is not anything memorable. Service is bad, seemed as if the server was annoyed before we even sat down. $50 for a meal that I could get else smh.

Came here with a friend - found the experience very mediocre. Ambiance was visually very nice, but the booths were very small and pretty uncomfortable. It was also tough to have a conversation becasue the booths are so close together and even if other tables are speaking in normal conversational tones, it feels loud. Service was altogether a little lacking, didn't feel like there was a ton of attention paid towards our table. I finished my water within ~5 minutes of sitting down and it wasn't refilled until the end of my meal. Was also tough to get any attention from the staff (and it wasn't seeming busy enough to justify that) Quality of the food itself was a major let down. I ordered the spicy veggie miso ramen and it was effectively just noodles in water (with toppings). The broth was largely flavorless to the point that I'm not sure that there was even miso included, it was litearlly water with the tiniest bit of spiciness. No one from staff ever checked in with us so we never got a chance to talk to someone about the quality of the food.

Been coming here for 8-9 years, and they decided to change the noodles. Now they’re all skinny and taste like 99 cent pack ramen. I will not be returning until they bring back the proper noodles to justify a $20 bowl of soup. It’s our FAVORITE spot in the city and we are very disappointed.

UPDATE: THEY FIXED THE NOODLES 10/10 AGAIN

Reasonably priced and delicious food. It is owned by the same person as the other two restaurants in the building, Friends Sushi Izakaya and Muan Jai Thai. Moreover, you can order the sushi to the ramen portion of the restaurant. Definitely a great spot!

Friends Ramen is a hidden gem in Chicago! The ramen is incredibly flavorful, rich, and comforting—exactly what you want on a cold day or when you’re craving something satisfying. The broth is deep and well-balanced, the noodles are perfectly cooked, and the toppings are fresh and generous.
The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the staff are friendly, attentive, and genuinely care about your experience. Portions are filling, prices are reasonable, and every dish feels thoughtfully prepared.
If you’re a ramen lover or just looking for a great spot for a warm, delicious meal, Friends Ramen is absolutely worth the visit. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Amazing meal. Loved the option to order from the sushi menu & highly recommend the ceviche with yuzu sauce. The smaller ramen size was really nice to make it easier to try other dishes.

This ramen bowl lacked flavor and was tasteless. Worse ramen bowl I have ever consumed. Just look at the broth. This is the miso ramen. Its sorry looking. Dont know how this place is highly rated.

We love the ramen here. It carries great authentic flavors and heavy broths with American spins and favorites and have nice rice bowls and sides too. It's generally not bad value at all and it tastes good, so we would frequent this place.

Was hoping it would be good. Edamame wasn’t fully cooked and the pork buns sadly had bbq sauce on it, was expecting crispy pork belly. Seemed like it came from a crock pot. My draft beer wasn’t full when they served me. Closed out after apps and the drink, didn’t want to take the chance on $18 bowl of ramen.

Great local ramen place. Cute atmosphere and great for eating alone. Lots of options, bowls , ramen and buns. The shumai was awesome and so was the ramen. I like that you can pick the size of the ramen , small or large.
