10/10 experience. The staff was friendly and accommodating to our large group of 25 guys, and the food came out incredible.

We ordered the XL pig roast with additional sides, and that was way more food than expected. The presentation of the pig is awesome. It comes with three of their own bbq sauces that each are unique and tasty. The honey mustard based bbq sauce was my favorite of the three.

The sides are massive as well. The Mac n cheese is so dense and cheesy. I think one would’ve been enough to feed us but we ordered three of them.

Overall this was a fantastic experience. Thank you to the staff and the ownership. You guys made our trip to Chicago that much better.

The food was great. We tried a little bit of everything, and the standout dishes were definitely the gator bites, octopus, and lamb. The white espresso martini paired with the banana bread pudding? Chef’s kiss. I’d honestly want to come back just for that. However, I wasn’t expecting how quickly the drink prices could add up.

Things to Avoid:
1. The seating by the alley was a bit rough—the fan kept blowing strong air our way, and at times it smelled like the trash nearby.
2. Just ask for regular drinks nothing special like the drink being Up or whatever you will keep seeing 4+ like if you were playing UNO.

We booked a last-minute brunch reservation at Frontier, and luckily they had plenty of open tables. We each got individual meals, but overall we weren’t too impressed with the food. I had the French toast, which was decent, but if I’d gotten all the toppings, it would’ve been too much for me. The lamb bacon was tasty but overly greasy, so a little less oil would be great. The scrambled eggs were solid but nothing extraordinary. We also tried the bottomless mimosas, and unfortunately, the champagne tasted off. We’ve had André Roger Brut before, and this definitely wasn’t right. Even the pineapple juice tasted watered down. On the bright side, the price point was decent.

Looked like a gem online. Slick photos, glowing reviews. In person? Not so much. The vibe and service held up, but the food—heavy, salty, forgettable. Left feeling worse than when we came in. Maybe it was an off night. Maybe not. Either way, in a world where every meal out costs a small fortune, you don’t get a second shot. I won’t be back.

They started spamming me. I dined there once 10 years ago, so they think that they have the right to invade my inbox. Oh, wait, isn't that illegal?

Last time I've been to this place was in 2017. I've been subscribed to their marketing list despite not requesting it.

Came today for a 1:30 brunch reservation and off the bat the hostess Leslie was not very welcoming. No smile and simply looked like she did not want to be there. We got sat in a 6 top in the beer garden and we decided to switch over to a shorter table due to my grandma needing back support. We then asked if we could do a table in the beer garden with a booth so that my grandma can be comfortable. Leslie didn’t even stop she just walked past us and said “that’s saved for a reservation”. There were about 4 other high top tables for 6 available. We asked a male server if we could still move to the table and he said the hostess would come by shortly to move us. Leslie never came and the gentleman moved us over himself.
Server took awhile to greet us and never introduced herself, I’m a server myself and always like my tables to know me by name as it’s just more personal. Ordered the mushrooms, 1/2 dozen raw oysters, the Mac and cheese and char grilled oysters. We all ordered entrees and the food came out super quick which was nice. I ordered a Bloody Mary, it tasted disgusting and watered down, barely any tomato juice. Not sure if it was sitting at the bar for a while but I told the server I didn’t want it. She offered a different drink but I stuck to water at that point. Everyone loved the food! After we closed out we noticed we were double charged for the raw oysters. We had 1/2 Dozen Oysters for $2 which totaled to $12 and then we had another charge for 6 west coast raw oysters on half shelf for $18. It would’ve been nice to have been told there were $2 oysters. While walking out I stopped by the bar to ask the bartender what the hostess’ name was. I asked “Hi, excuse me, what’s your hostess’ name?” He then replied with “what did you call me?” Not sure how that was interpreted but then I repeated my question and he responded with Leslie. I said thank you and walked out. I’m in hospitality and first started as a hostess over 10 years ago and always made guests feel welcomed with a smile no matter how bad of a day I had or how tired I was. No other big parties came in for the “reserved table” that Leslie rudely told us was “taken”.
Will definitely be back for the food but service was odd.

A classic bait and switch restaurant. Food was decent, nothing over the top. Make sure to ask for a physical copy of your bill before you pay. Our server only brought the machine, which did not show they had already added the “suggested 20% gratuity”. On top of which, they ask you to tip again before you pay! If you’re going to be shady and sneak a gratuity on the bill already, don’t add another tipping option. And to be clear, it is not stated in a clear way that they add the 20%. Of course they no longer have a physical menu, just a QR code. Finding the “suggested 20% gratuity” message involves scrolling down to the very bottom of a webpage past all the menu items. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Funky local spot for an interesting smoked options including whole animal service for a bigger group which was really unique! We also had a casual dinner at the bar one time, unfortunately my stuffed fish was undercooked but the flavors were incredible, they made me a new fish and it was delicious. Definitely recommend this place for a date or group dinner.

TLDR: nice ambiance, mediocre food, poor service that ABSOLUTELY does NOT merit the forced 20% gratuity. Read the fine print before booking a reservation here.

If you happen to stumble into the withered husk of what was once a revered staple on Milwaukee you’d be disappointed with what you find. As an infrequent patron of Frontier the allure of what made this place great seemed to have gone dry like the beer taps. The initial greeting by the hostess was warm, friendly and accommodating. But the illusion of a welcoming environment was slowly shattered throughout the night by a rather unwelcoming server. From the moment when the group sat down we felt rushed to place our order. It all came to a head when we were asked to leave around 9:20pm, with glasses still half full of beer. Our server rudely informed us that the close times have changed and we were 20 minutes passed closing. When shown the Google listing showing a 10pm closing time, the response was “well the new time is 9pm”. To add insult to injury. Frontier now automatically assumes that service merits 20% gratuity. Yes, food service workers absolutely deserve this and more if possible but absolutely NOT in this case, especially when it’s forced and undeserving.

For Frontier management if you’re reading this: a simple hospitality lesson for your wait staff to not rush customers would go a long way for repeat business.

Food and service were excellent. The meats were perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Sides were pretty good too. It was just really smoky on my last visit.

The hostess greeted us and accommodated our request to change our seating on a holiday Friday evening. The restaurant's enclosed patio area was beautifully decorated and cozy, which was great for photos. The food however, was average. We started with the chargrilled oysters which had the saltiest brine/ buttery sauce and the oyster meat was so small, it was almost invisible. Our server we great, she removed it from our bill and we decided to go ahead and pick a variety of items from the menu. We order a fried chicken thigh and fries for our small child, 5 cheese mac and cheese, Brussel sprouts, smoke lanb ribs and crab stuffed seabass. Once again, the lamb ribs were overly salty for taste. One bite was all I took before returning it for something else. We were told the restaurant cures all of their meat in the same seasoning so we steered clear from any other red meat. The safest choice was the crab cake appetizer, which was not too bad but nothing to rave about. The bread pudding was sweet, so oof course it was tasty. Overall, I have never experienced salty food like I did at Frontier. I expect that kind of flavor from fast food restaurants. Safe to say, we probably wouldn't return because the food we did like, was just average items that we can buy anywhere (the seabass was good though). I'd say, try the red meats and oysters at your own risk.
