Went here because middle eastern restaurants are usually good for vegetarians and vegans, but then I saw they serve foie gras. Awful dish that is made from torturing ducks, ridiculous that they're still serving it

Galit refuses to respond to my emails asking incredibly basic questions. It has been 2 weeks since my follow up 2 weeks ago and absolutely nothing. Wanted to make a reservation for my anniversary. One day I even tried calling and they wouldn't pick up the phone either.
Incredibly disrespectful. Extremely disappointed in the lack of care. They'd rather force you to pay a non-refundable $50 reservation fee than talk to you. Disgusting.
Booked somewhere that actually answers their email and picks up the phone and will not consider Galit until they clean up their act.

I was looking forward to going here, but a group of loud protesters was blocking the restaurant. They were screaming about foie gras and calling the restaurant owners animal abusers. I was uncomfortable and left immediately. When I called Galit about it, they refused to refund my expensive reservation fee. Will not be back.

Galit sells seasonal foie gras, an inhumane dish which was illegal in Chicago for years until Big Ag lobbyists overturned the ban. No conscentious Chicagoan would ever eat here.

We aren’t Michelin Star eaters but couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try Galit during Restaurant Week 2026. Service was friendly but felt stretched thin on a busy Saturday night. Every dish was solid but nothing was a true standout except maybe the Crispy Phyllo Pie. I understand RW isn’t usually a good representation of a place, but I do feel like many Chicago Bib Gourmand restaurants deliver better quality, flavor, and service.

They have animal rights protestors there weekly apparently they have foie gras on the menu… beyond inexcusable to have such an atrocious menu item in 2026. They will close the blinds and your meal will be interrupted by chaos for over an hour.

The food was amazing, but the staff was the real highlight of the evening. Linus and and the rest of the team were on point and so knowledgeable.

Look plain and simple skip this resturant. Ive been to great resturants with great customer service and great food. This is neither.
The food was odd and obviously not to my taste. The carrots were underdone and slightly crunchy with no flavor. The toppings were super salty. Same thing with the pastrami. No flavor in the meat and super salty dressing?
The lamb was good, the apple pastry the best thing I had all night and that's sad for a place that charges 105 dollars per head. The foie gras tasted like a PB and J, who wants a PB and J as a second course during dinner? A choice was made on that one. The hummus with brisket was nice. And maybe it's because I grew up on homemade hummus but it was missing depth of flavor. It had no soul. None of this was 105 worth of food. Like go to little Palestine or a locally owned resturant and you'll get better food and for cheaper prices.
Now service. Its took one hour for us to get to order, with a reservation. At one point the bartender came up to us because he saw no one paying attention to us. Now my partner parked the car and I got there early. And we got confused and asked for minute once. But that's not an hour delay. The server seemed uninterested in us not being pleased with the food (that on the 20% automatic gratuity) We had a snafu cause the third party we did the reservations to(the website the restaurant sent us to) made it seem that it was the restaurant week menu. Server went to manager and she didn't even come over. No explanation beyond, yeah I've had a couple people get that confused. I hate a manager that doesbt suppoert their team and help them adress issues. Girl get your hands dirty and talk to a guest!
The one team member that held great customer service on her back was Delinia. When she asked was the food and I said it was okay. She clocked it and offered solutions. She checked back in and heard our complaints. She offered sympathy and again offered to make more food for us. I don't that would have helped the consistent issues so we left it. We did take all the food home cause it's 2026 and in this economy it's a bad financial plan to spend 250 on dinner and not have leftovers. I will never come here again and neither should you.

Had one of the best meals here. Our server, Risa, was beyond knowledgeable of the menu and guided us through each section perfectly. There was not a bad bite!

Well worth it! The service and food here were amazing. The menu does change but I really appreciate for it being a tasting menu you still get to select what you want. Highly recommend getting the falafel. I don’t think you can go wrong with anything. It’s definitely a lot of food, so pace yourself. We each just had a single bite of our main and took the rest home.

The food was amazing. The atmosphere is pretty casual and the seating setup could be improved but this was one of the most filling meals we have ever had. Every dish was excellent and the wine journey was great as well. We loved the tea and coffee at the end too. Best hummus we have ever had. I get why people rate it lower because of their Michelin star but if you like great food with a more casual atmosphere I highly recommend.

Apparently this place serves foie gras, which is made through painfully forcefeeding ducks. Not cool in 2025 to endorse that kind of cruelty

After paying we headed out, bellies first, into the night. We were greeted outside by what at first appeared to be a group of elves. Upon closer inspection, they turned out to be foie gras protesters. They rang bells, shook signs, and chanted slogans. Their eyes gobbled as if they had just seen something in the gutter. I walked up to the prettiest among them and kissed her with my foie gras mouth and then wished—no, reminded—them all to have a happy holiday.
Not good. Would never go back. Second time now. Both have not been good. First time was a disaster.

We had a nice meal at Galit from an attentive staff. The four-course meal was little too much food, but consistently tasty.
