Exceptional evening! Great service and explanations of the food and wine on offer. We loved the Japanese eggplant the most of all the items for sure.

Ordered ~8 dishes here. Was good. Glad I came and would again. Wasn't sure if I'd make a repeat visit, for what it was given the price.

Giant is by far one of our favorite places in Chicago. The service is outstanding and the food is out of this world. Brennan is the best!!!!

Giant is consistently one of the best meals at this price point in the city. I’ve never had a bad meal here and the wine selection is also stellar. Perfect for a date night or going out with friends.
Anything pasta or seafood or veggie is always a good choice here.

Had to listen to the owner trash Americans because Kamala lost the election. I don't care who you voted for, but when you're in a business that operates strictly on the business of the people you openly trash that's a bad business model. And whoever controls their social media should be fired. It's 90% political statements and 10% the restaurant. Nothing screams come eat here like political rhetoric. I won't be back

I went as a solo walk in and had the great pleasure of sitting at the chefs counter. It was a thrill to watch as they meticulously took special care of every dish they served with speed. Everything I had was tasty and I would highly recommend the chefs counter if you can get a reservation to sit there.

Giant is one of my favorite spots in Chicago. The food is consistently amazing—creative, flavorful, and totally unpretentious. The atmosphere is warm and lively without being too loud or crowded. What really sets it apart, though, is the staff. Everyone is friendly, attentive, and seems genuinely happy to be there, which makes the whole experience even better. Can’t recommend it enough.

Giant was truly a wonderful experience with INCREDIBLE food. The ambience makes you feel like you’re in a Michelin star restaurant in the heart of Soho. We sat at the ‘bar’ which looked right into the kitchen - truly a “front row seat” to watching a group of people flow while creating art. We ordered a little bit of everything, as it’s similar to tapas style (plus, everyone will want a bite of each others anyways). The food was outstanding! Watching the plates and flavors come together to then tasting them come together was a culinary experience we will never forget! The service was phenomenal, the cooks worked so well together, and again… THE FOOD! Truly outstanding, 10/10. Thank you Giant for the hospitality :)

I had a nice night out at Giant with two friends and we were excited to try it because we've all been hearing about it for years. We love Chef's Special, which is one of the newest restaurants in the same family.

Pros: Service was great. Our server was attentive, prompt, and knowledgeable. I have a gluten intolerance and she walked me through a well-marked menu. They have gluten free pasta now (not previously offered) and the cocktail I had was delicious. The bartender who brought the wine and told us about it was also great. The bussers were quick and very friendly. There were two standout dishes -- the pear & cabbage dish, and the eggplant dish. Such good & interesting flavors. My dining partners said the bread was also great.

Cons: We ordered about 10-13 different dishes and apart from the two really delicious ones, everything else was too salty. Most were still edible but lacking interesting flavors. The scallops were borderline too salty, and the flounder was actually inedibly salty. We all took one bite and the dish caused us to physically pucker and almost choke. We did end up telling our server that we couldn't eat it, which none of us loves doing. The flank steak was good but overcooked. The pasta dishes were tasty but too rich/heavy/buttery.

All in all, we expected a lot more from a restaurant with those prices and this reputation. Their flavors should be more inventive instead of relying on salt and butter. In general they really, really need to lay off the salt. Unfortunately, I don't imagine myself going back.

Vegetarian options: A few really good vegetarian dishes (all our favorites were vegetarian).

Dietary restrictions: Safe for those with gluten intolerance, probably not safe for celiacs.

Wheelchair accessibility: The dining area is extremely tight and crowded. I'm not in a wheelchair but I doubt you could navigate around in one.

We stopped by Giant on a whim for dinner (celebrating a small anniversary) and had the best experience! We didn't have a reservation and were on the waitlist for just over an hour, but it was very worth the wait!

Our server Katie immediately took care of us and had some great suggestions for getting started. Christie stopped by with complimentary trout roe bites (delicious!) and glasses of sparking chardonnay chablis on the house. We felt right at home and greatly appreciate their hospitality and care.

Everything on the menu looked incredible so we'll have to come back but we ordered the peppers, tagliatelle with crab (*stellar dish*) and bucatini. Their pasta is made in-house and you can really taste the difference!

Highly recommend Giant to anyone looking for a date night, anniversary, or elevated weeknight dinner. It's a cozy spot so I'd recommend getting reservations if you can, but if not, Moonlighter and Scofflaw are great places to grab a drink while waiting for a table.

I ordered the crab tagliatelle to-go and was not a fan. The sauce almost tasted sour and I bit into shells. The portion size is small considering the price. Very disappointing overall.

Everything here is as disorganized as their menu. Why is there a $50 deposit for a reservation if they make you wait ages to be seated anyways when you arrive on time? They bring out each dish one at a time no matter how big or small (the portions are on the small side btw), so don't think about ordering more than one pasta. It took 1.5 hours for the last dish to come out. It would've been worth it if the food tasted anywhere close to decent. The broccoli was so raw you might mistake it for carrot sticks if you closed your eyes. Everything tastes like salt and vinegar chips. Everything is overpriced especially the measly trout roe for $8. The dining room is cramped. Maybe if you sit at the "chef's counter" you can divine a reason why Giant is the way it is. At least Brennan is nice.
