Reservation was cancelled by restaurant on the same day without explanation apart from kitchen being “closed for the day”. The restaurant says they charge customers a fee who cancel their reservation within 48 hours...wonder if they will hold themselves to the same standard?
This restaurant canceled on us with just 3 hours notice to an unexpected closing for two tables that totaled 12 on a Friday night for a business dinner. I realize this happens, but in addition to the cancel, I tried to call them multiple times prior with no answer and no availability to leave a message. Bad experience all around.
I had a Friday night 6 PM reservation cancelled a few hours before with no explanation other than “we had to close the restaurant”. And the restaurant was not closed for the entire night. Additionally, I received no options for an alternate time to make a new reservation, with no offer to offset the late notice and inconvenience.
This place is closed (permanently or semi-permanently). It's taking reservations but the restaurant is not currently in operation.
We were fortunate enough to receive a 200.00 gift card from friends as a thank you to this restaurant we've heard so much about. Unfortunately, for months every time we try to go the establishment is closed although it should be open according to the hours provided online. Our latest disappointment was a reservation that required a 20.00 person deposit it allowed us to make for last Thursday evening at 7:00pm to which we arrived for only to find doors were locked lights off no sign of life whatsoever! This was beyond unprofessional and disappointing as I drove in from our home in Michigan to surprise my fiancé with this dinner. Another couple walked up who also was there for a 7:30 reservation and was equally in disbelief. Can someone please explain to me how we can actually dine here?
The app let me book a reservation and the place ended up being closed for no apparent reason
I made a reservation for my sister's birthday. We arrived at the restaurant, and turns out the restaurant was closed. The craziest part is that somehow, my reservation got marked as attended 🤔. Kind of surreal. Bad experience so far. Wish they had been open.
Had dinner reservation for my husband and i for our 30th wedding anniversary, drive all the way downtown paid for parking arrived for our confirmed reservation only to find the restaurant closed and no one answering the phone either. Very disappointing and terrible way to handle customers
Did not even get to eat there with the reservation. No communication, felt left hanging. Mom's bday was ruined
We showed up for our reservation and the doors were locked and no one was there! We attempted to call multiple times and there was no answer. We have no idea what happens and why we were not informed that there was something wrong and that the restaurant would be closed even though we had a reservation and a deposit was required to make it. Very disappointed!!

Awful all around experience. Moldy bathrooms, slow and inconsiderate service. Did not get greeted at the door just to wait and watch multiple guests leave due to the same issues. Finally seated just to be told half of the menu is unable to be made. Waisted reservations for a weekend date night. Would never come here.
Call ahead first, verify menu! I gave a five star review a year and a half ago for this establishment. They got rid of the chefs cooking menu. But it’s still listed on the website. Brought friends of mine there for their anniversary and was almost embarrassed, the food is very good. Bar is crowded and bar patrons kept bumping into our table. The service is lacking and seeks understaffed and the ambience seems to want to be more of a club than a restaurant. The music is very loud so difficult to talk for a party of 4. Sound system kept going in and out too. They are just another good Italian food restaurant in chicago, no longer anything special like they once were. Very disappointed after my first experience there. Not worth the value in my opinion, can get better value and experience elsewhere for for the $$$

Went there about a year and a half ago, and it was an immaculate experience. Second time around for a special occasion, was extremely underwhelming. The chef tasting menu is no longer available and the website is extremely deceiving. The food was good, the value wasn't there, and the service was extremely underwhelming as we had to wait constantly for drinks. Buyer beware. Please call first and verify the menu online. Would've picked another place for the special occasion that I was trying to host my friends for. Wants to be more of a club that a restaurant. A year and a half ago I gave it a rave reviews, five stars across-the-board. They became very average and lost their competitive advantage just being another Italian restaurant in my opinion.
We came in for an early Sunday dinner a couple of weeks ago, easy reservation to get and the dining room tho small with only maybe 15 tables*? was nice and quiet. Our servers name was Alessio and he was great, very welcoming and warm.
Oysters, Alle Fragole (strawberry salad), cavatelli fiorentina, baked rigatoni.
Over all the food did not miss. Biggest upset is that 2 of the salads on the menu weren't available that night and unfortunately the strawberry salad was just fine, nothing special.
Happy Hour drinks available at the table!? Absolutely love that.
Hugo Spritz, Lemon Spritz, pinot Noir, riesling, Cosmo
Downfall here was more with service than the drinks themselves. We ordered the Cosmo and red wine before our dinner arrived to the table and unfortunately they didnt arrive until after my to go food was literally already boxed up. So that was pretty annoying.
But over all the food was fabulous and the service was great. It did look like our sever was the only one working the floor at the time so that might have played into it. But what can ya do.
I would come back for the food alone.
Also a psa that isn't mentioned is an auto grat of 20% is added to the check which we didnt expect and wasn't mentioned to us or on the menu.

Came to Gino and Marty’s for an event. The restaurant is way too small and was very hard to move around due to the placement of the tables. Food was ok but drinks took forever to make, if made correctly. Service was also less than ideal.
