Golden Chef Chinese Kitchen

Ordered general tso chicken around 7:30pm. Arrived not even 3 mins after I ordered, they already had the food ready? Walked back (literally next door) and was the ABSOLUTE WORST general tso I've had in the 13 years in Chicago.. Felt like I was going to break a tooth biting into the chicken.

I ordered a Chicken Kow that is basically chicken with mixed vegetables, and I asked if I could have it with Black Bean Sauce and Spicy. Black Bean Sauce is like the dark sauce they would use for a Mongolian beef. And when I got home with the order I picked up I got this watery ass soup almost worth some soggy ass vegetables and it looked disgusting. I called them back right away and they said they had a new cook and next time they would ask a different cook to make the order the way I wanted. I don't think there will be a next time.

I've been getting delivery here for months now. The prices aren't bad, but the food has declined.

I hate to say that the Wonton soup used to be a weekly staple for me, but as of the last 2-3 months a recipe change has happened and I'm not very fond of it. I will say the same thing about the quality of the rice, as well as the Mongolian Beef. It used to be prepared much better with so much flavor and heat, but now it's a shadow of it former self.

I'm assuming there was a chef change at some point earlier this year. In my opinion if you can't get the last chef back, then find a new one. Everything was bland this time, the meals have progressively gotten worse.
My soup tasted like water and the Wontons were under seasoned.

I would recommend Wok You Want if you don't mind spending a little more, or really for anyone looking for a better place.

Disclaimer: I haven’t had the food but I think local restaurants should be judged not just on their food but impact on the community. This restaurant decided to paper my street with flyers, the majority of which ended on the ground. Yes it’s a cheap way to advertise for you but you aren’t paying the cost of cleaning up this litter. I recommend members of the community take this into account when choosing local restaurants to support.

A little bit disappointed about this restaurant, who used to be a really good one. Long wait time, for the quality of the food.

You can’t beat their lunch specials! There is no seating, so carry out or delivery only. It was so hot in there, I feel bad for the kitchen staff. Best bang for your buck for Chinese food in Chicago.
