I hauled myself half a mile from home through sleet and snow on Ash Wednesday, a trek so miserable even the angels were like, ‘Nah, bro, stay inside.’ All for Good Ambler. I get there, half-frozen, and bam—there’s a snarky little sign on the door sneering, ‘Closed at 10 a.m., loser!’ No online hint, no warning—just me and that smug note after my half-mile suffer-fest. A few days later, I’m back at it, another half-mile death march, thinking they can’t possibly screw me twice. Wrong! Half the seating’s cordoned off like it’s reserved for coffee royalty, leaving me standing there like an uncaffeinated scarecrow, twitching for a fix. I live half a mile away, and both times they’ve turned my caffeine dreams into a laughable nightmare. Can’t yank more stars off, or I’d rate them lower than my morale in that snowstorm. Good Ambler’s a circus—skip it unless you’re into slapstick suffering.

great vibes, just a little loud with the music but not a problem with headphones. tons of outlets. also wifi only lasts 1.5 hours which is a bummer

Had to wait 20 minutes for a coffee. Plus they charge $1 extra for non-dairy milk. Not even Starbucks or Dunkin’ does that anymore.

Great coffee and good atmosphere. The only reason I give it three stars is that the barista has the energy and a sloth. I’ve never seen someone move so slow in my life. It literally took them 15 mins to make 4 drinks

I went in for the first time this past Sunday. I was trying to order but the staff was too busy to yap in front of me.

Worst matcha i have ever had, not mixed at all. Matcha was grainy had pieces floating in the drink and tasted like sweet milk I'd rate negative stars if I could.

Great place. Coffee is solid. Quiche and pastries are very good. The only downside is going on a weekend and fighting for seats in a sea of laptop people. We were standing waiting to eat our food for about 20 minutes.

A bit pricey for the coffee. I got a small white chocolate mocha for $8 after taxes and it tasted okay. It was extremely busy. Wifi is only for 90 mins. Very aesthetically looking place though.

I love how large the place is, it makes it a very easy location to gather a group of friends who still want to be in a relaxed environment

This place looks great and food is good. But the service was terrible, there was a guy that rudely asked everyone in the back to get up and find another spot as there is a private event. Which is fine but there’s a nice way to go about it. Also the WiFi here is only available for 90 minutes per day. So don’t use this place to study or work all day. This is the first time I’ve heard of a coffee shop that only has a 90 minute window for WiFi.

Solid coffee cafe located in the main entrance to the mondelez offices. It is open to the public and on weekends.

There's a solid selection of pastries and chocolates. Drinks are standard fair with a small rotating seasonal menu.

Other food options are available, but if you can order them or not may be dependent on how busy the main office is.

Very cute! We went twice in one week. The first day it was the best latte I’ve had in Chicago. The second time, it was like sour milk, so there is some inconsistency. However, every pastry was excellent! There are a lot of tables, but it’s a very busy and popular place, and there are some hours where the public can’t stay at the cafe. Also, the free WiFi cuts off exactly after 90 minutes. Arrive early!

We had a tour bus group booked as part of Chicago Food Tours, and one stop was Good Ambler. The place is HUGE, but they insisted that only half our group enter at once. They claimed they had a private lunch coming and we couldn't use the back half of the space. No problem I say, as our group can easily fit in the front. Nope. They 'communicated this ahead of time' which actually meant they told the tour leader the night before. Our trip was booked for a year, and it isn't a reasonable change. So they made half our group sit on the bus while their establishment was mostly empty. They roped the back off....and it sat empty for the entire time we were there. No private luncheon ever materialized. I've never felt so unwelcome or been treated so rudely. They certainly didn't mind our 50+ guests all making purchases while they glared at us from the back of the restaurant. Our guests were very confused as to why they weren't allowed to come inside to shop and eat at their leisure when the room was probably 7-8,000 square feet and by far the largest bakery we visited that day.

Absolutely lousy coffee - lukewarm and not strong enough. It’s either the coffee itself that tastes like sour milk, or the way they make - it’s just no bueno. Matcha that we also ordered was barely warm as well - I asked them to remake it and make it extra hot, it came out “barely hot”. Pastry was mediocre at best - brownie was too sweet, ham and cheese croissant was too cold, I would expect some kind of warming up? Even a little bit. The person who was making coffee looked so bored with life, and was using a joke of a towel to wipe down the coffee maker thingy.. the towel looked disgusting. Never coming back. The space itself is cute though, very spacious, but the fact that there were spots available on a Sunday morning speaks for itself.
