Came here after a long day day, vibe was very casual. Highly recommend the Maffe if you like spicy peanuts and the Yassa Tilapia (the grilled onions had quite a spicy kick. So refreshing to enjoy flavor in the Midwest!

So, I love this place. I love the food and I love the setting, but they do have to work on customer service. I have on multiple occasions sat for over 10 mins before a server, hostess, or anything even approached me to ask how I can be helped, and we made eye contact.
This can cause people to become impatient and leave but I do love the food and understand patiencea and being short staffed. Outside of that everything is good here food wise

I can’t express how much i admire Gorée. It’s such a beautiful space to feast whether you’re by yourself, with family, or friends. In addition to Gorée being black owned by Adama Ba.
I dine here at least once a month, but as of late it’s been weekly!
Gorée is the ultimate experience, as it feels like home. The service is phenomenal, the ambiance is warm, the dishes are immaculate. And chefs don’t come to play!
The cuisines are vibrant, and plated with intention, while seasoned to perfection. With savory bites, derived from recipes straight from Senegal.
I can feel the recipes come from tradition, love, culture, and family.
As a Southside Chicagoan, Gorée is definitely a forever staple for me.
Adama, the owner is for the people and it’s evident through his devotion for food, but more importantly his passion for serving the community.

The service is enough to not make me return and the food was okay but didn’t make up for the terrible service. It was my first time here and I was treating my sister out to lunch. We walk in and wait by the counter, when we are finally greeted, we’re given menus and told to seat ourselves. After 10-15 minutes of waiting, we flag down the one waitress and give our orders. We both ordered Yassa fish tilapia and red snapper. I also ordered a side of atieke that never came with the rest of the order so I had it taken off the bill. I would go to Yassa African or try other restaurants.

We recently celebrated at Gorée and had such a beautiful experience. We started with samosas and beignets, and then enjoyed a delicious méchoui and yassa every dish was full of flavor and truly unforgettable. What made the evening even more special was the warm, welcoming atmosphere. The owner and the team made us feel completely at home, and we are so grateful for their kindness and hospitality.
Thank you, Adama, we look forward to coming back very soon
