Closes at random times but keeps the open sign on. Put in an online order once and paid, but then got there to a sign that said it was closed for the weekend. Didn’t get my money back.

I recently tried Gorilla Sushi's carryout, and their French Roll Annie and Godzilla Roll were standouts. The French Roll Annie offered a delightful blend of creamy cheese and fresh avocado, with a light, tangy sauce that made each bite enjoyable. The Godzilla Roll, true to its name, packed a punch with shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, and a flavorful mix of eel sauce and spicy mayo. The rolls were fresh, well-packaged, and the pickup process was smooth, making for a satisfying sushi experience. My only wish was for slightly larger portions, but overall, it was an excellent meal!

Checked the reviews about mushy rice in sushi rolls and ignored it. Guess what I got? Mushy rice sushi roll. Yes, the prices are affordable but why would you want to give your money to a business that doesn’t seem to care about their reviews or quality of their take out?
RICE IS THE CHEAPEST INGREDIENT YOU CAN BUY AND EASIEST TO COOK. How is this even an issue??? I’m gone.
Tonight was one of the worst sushi I’ve had in a long time and I’ve been coming here since they opened. The rice was so over cooked our sushi was packed with so much rice because it wasn’t sticky enough to hold the sushi together, how they were able to roll it at all is beyond me. It was so over cooked it was mashy and watery leaving unagi water all over the bottom of the container contaminating other pieces of sushi we ordered that didn’t have unagi on it, because they put all the sushi in our order together. Since they make the sushi with their hands I know they knew the quality wasn’t great when they sent it out. The integrity of the sushi relies on the sushi rice being dry and sticky and all we got were watery mash rice balls. Super not okay to send that out when we pay hard earned money to support these businesses.
Epic spot. Insanely good cheap sushi. Often adds extra rolls. Quick. Perfect when you want take out.

I ordered delivery and I prefer really good tuna. The tuna avocado roll was fantastic and more economical than the Tuna nigiri.
You can tell by the appearance, texture, and taste that the fish is fresh.
Great delivery experience and really enjoyed the food!

I was denied service when walking in 55 minutes before closing. Completely ridiculous. A young woman in a baby blue shirt and black shorts was rude

Edited, post covid review.
Quality is in line with other Gorilla sushi in Chicago. Better dine in experience than the one on division, and BYOB.
Overall great experience.

Ordered pick up on a Friday about 7pm. FOH staff was so nice, phone etiquette and helpful at pickup. I order shu mai, they were dense and didn’t seem homemade…ponzu was excellent.
Ordered 3 sushi rolls. The rice seemed old which was so disappointing. The texture of the rice was mush and chalky. The rolls themselves didn’t have depth of flavor. Nothing was fishy, but for instance the spicy tuna-wasn’t spicy and didn’t have that snap, soft shell crab, ebi all had bland flavor profiles, sitting in the background.
Wouldn't likely order here again unless I forget it wasn’t great, which def could happen…in that case-here’s to hoping I don’t order the same thing.

Objectively horrible sushi. Especially when you compare it to other gorilla sushi locations. There was barely any fish in my overpriced crunchy salmon roll and the tempura was so oily and fried tasting like old fish. The “fresh” salmon on my tiger roll was old and tasted bad. It came out in maybe 3 minutes as well. Never a good experience at this location.

Food is delicious and affordable. Servers are nice. The atmosphere is what you’d expect for a restaurant on Milwaukee, chill and clean. 10/10 recommend on price and quality of food alone.
