I can’t comment on the food, but walking into a bar after working all day just to be abrasively demanded by some middle aged bald guy that I show my ID is pretty annoying, actually. Yes, I’m sure you’re legally obligated to check IDs but the JROTC/burnout teacher energy can be toned down a bit. There’s no reason that, at 30 years old, I should be talked to that way by another “adult.”

More points deducted for not being able to name the only two THC drinks available on the entire menu. A couple more for the audacity.

Edit: after scrolling through other reviews of this place, I think it’s clear what their intended clientele is. 🤣

Incredible bar. Great location. Great prices. And above all, great workers. Just yesterday, I was at the green eye to enjoy the bears game. An insanely annoying group of suburbanites were harassing the single bartender during a rush. The bartender politely, yet firmly shut them down, allowing for everyone else to get drinks within a reasonable timeframe. Most bartenders would have cowered and spent 15 minutes going through the menu with people in the city for a few hours. This ain’t federales folks. Green eye is a great, normal bar for reasonable people that make reasonable orders.

Never coming back here again! The bartender is so rude. My friend lives in Chicago, we were in the area and trying to watch the Bears game so we walked into this place. We walked in and sat down. I asked the bartender if there was service at the table or if we ordered at the bar which he said it was a one guy bar which is fine. I asked if they had angry orchard and he said he’d tell me what he tells all people that come in, ‘Look at the menu’ which is fine. I told my friend he told me to look at the menu and once we decided on what we wanted my friend ordered. Bartender asked in a snarky way if we’d ever been to a bar. I asked if he had whiskey and ginger ale (which wasn’t on the menu) and he said in snarky way that it’s a full service bar. He gave me my drinks and I asked if I can keep an open tab and as I handed my card he said, ‘You know you have to leave your card’ which I said I know. I ignored all the previous comments because we just wanted to watch the Bears game. Ordered two more refills and all good until I wanted to close my tab. I walked up, he was closing out someone so I waited. While he was walking back and forth I raised my hand so he could see me and he yelled at me, “Don’t wave your hand at me, there’s others before you!”. I felt so bad. I just wanted him to see me, I would have waited my turn. I never expected him to attend to me right away. And after that he walked away and turned around to then get my tab. There was no one before me. I have never been disrespected like that by a bartender. I felt awful and will never go back or recommend

Cool space I went to for a drawing event on a Wednesday night. I had a nice time, art was reasonably priced, typical Chicago dive bar nothing to write home about no complaints. Everyone was friendly, I'll probably come back.

Great corner bar if you want to stop in for a quick pop, or hang out for hours.

This has been my favorite bar in Bucktown since 2010. It’s exactly what you want for a good hang. A long bar with plenty of seating. Excellent craft beer on tap. Cheap PBRs. Nice little tables to sit at with a group of friends. Overall always positive vibes, good music, great people. It’s the kind of bar you can go alone and chat with neighborhood bar flys or hang out with a group with privacy at their high tops. I love this place and last went here after a show at the revived Congress theater…wish I lived closer. Used to be my regular go to. Best hidden gem bar in the area! Highly recommend.

It's a quaint little place right below the Western CTA station. Great location. Apparently, no table service. Had to leave my table to get a beer at the bar.

Green Eye Lounge feels like a commuter bar without a train to catch. It sits just under the Blue Line tracks like it’s waiting for people who still live in Bucktown or Wicker Park—not because they’re holding on, but because they still can. The place has that unmistakable mid-afternoon energy of locals stopping in after a half-shift, students with too much time, and visitors like us looking for a moment of shade before the night kicks off.

Inside, it’s calm, dim, and just the right amount of worn-in. The lighting is low but not theatrical, and there’s a lived-in warmth that makes it easy to melt into the bar without having to explain yourself. It’s a classic pregame or cool-down kind of place—a transition bar, and they know it. The bartenders keep it tight, the beers are poured with no fuss, and the whole place runs on an unspoken rhythm.

We only stayed for one drink, but we could’ve stayed for three. It didn’t ask anything of us, and in that way, it gave us exactly what we needed. No gimmicks, no aesthetic agenda—just a great bar in a city that still knows how to make space for them.

The kind of spot that makes you think, “yeah, we’ll come back here next time.”
