Very cool space. The beers were excellent. I traditionally didn't like Guinness but it turns out I'd never had it served properly. For non stout drinkers they had plenty of other very good options.
Ive been there twice now for their bocce ball league. The first time I had their pub burger and a pint, highly recommend. The second time I went with the bangers and mash. Fantastic.
Caveat: the only beer I drink is Guinness so I’m biased in favor of places with Guinness on tap. Best fish & chips I’ve had in the US. Super fun location just outside of the trendy areas of Chicago. Trivia night is a blast. Great date night spot. I will definitely be back.
Been here three times so far. Drinks are great. Food is almost always good with one exception of an over-salty beef stew. Service is hit and miss- servers are always friendly, but also consistently slightly disorganized. Water wouldn’t be served until after the drinks are served, that kind of small things. Overall great experience!
Good stuff!
Great place to drink good beer with very good food!
Great beer
Good fun Guinness experience.
I read negative reviews before coming so I was very pleased to find out the place is sooo much better. Forget the pricey merchandise and come spend your money on good beer and food and a great atmosphere. It is not Ireland by a long shot, it's Chicago, and worth going even if you can't find parking.
A horror experience with the staff, it’s like their doing you a favor for the service their supposed to provide. An absolute dissapointment, you are killing an ICONIC brand
I got to check out the Guinness Open Gate Brewery Chicago while visiting town. The Harp set up on top of the bar is really cool, lots of merch too. Guinness pours were good and I absolutely loved their micheladas. I didn’t have any food. I had dessert, their crème brûlée was really good. Service is good, bartenders are friendly and I like the lively Irish atmosphere.
My only con about Guinness brewery is the parking, it can be a little challenging to park.

Nice spot with authentic pours and some great local brews. The place itself is really busy ( weekend). Food is ok, standard pub fare. Service is great ( Jeremy helped with the stout selection ). Worth a visit if you crave a nice stout this side of the pond.
Beautiful place! Waited less than 10 minutes for a table on a Saturday. The only thing that could improve is better parking
I realize this seems like a very harsh review, but I can't imagine ever returning here. Tried four different beers that we ordered at the table (no classic Guinness pours), and did not enjoy any of them. That is obviously subjective, your mileage may vary with the drinks and food. What was far more off putting is that the place just seems like a marketing ploy for Guinness. Endless T-shirts and collectibles, it's like a theme park - and I mean that in the worst way possible. Completely antiseptic and lacking any personality whatsoever.
The staff was friendly, no issues with service although they said we had to be out in two hours when we arrived and they were not even remotely close to capacity. If that is the policy have fun trying to watch a game on the TVs mounted towards the ceiling.
I’ve been to the Guinness Open Gate Brewery a few times now. More than I probably should’ve, considering I’ve never walked out thinking it was a good experience. I went again tonight (after a friend begged me to give it another shot) and, unfortunately, got exactly what I expected. A cool looking spot with bad everything else.
The braised short rib tacos I was excited about (still listed on their website) were no longer on the menu. So I settled for the braised short rib and polenta, thinking it’d be a hearty consolation prize. Unfortunately, not so much. For $34, I got a 2x2” square of flavorless meat over a tiny portion of cold, runny polenta. Portion aside, the dish looked decent enough on the plate, but as usual here, the food always looks way better than it taste.
If this were a swanky, chef-driven restaurant, maybe that portion size would pass. But at a brewery slinging (albeit wildly overpriced) snack mix, wings, and pretzels? Come on. The Guinness gimmick only stretches so far. Eventually, you’ve gotta deliver.
I’ll give credit where it’s due: our server, Romerio, was good—attentive and polite. No issues there.
Bottom line: if you’re a die-hard beer culture lover, it might be worth grabbing a pint and snapping a pic with the harp just to check it off your list, however no true Chicagoan is shelling out that kind of cash on food this disappointing. Do yourself a favor and take the five-minute walk to just about any other spot in Fulton Market. You’ll be glad you did.
Beers were great, lemme curate the playlist! 😮💨
