NEVER STEP FOOT IN THAT PLACE! I swear, if I could, I wouldn't even give them a single star. It was a nightmare. I went with my family and the food was absolutely dreadful. The portions were tiny, the BBQ veggie fried rice had hardly any vegetables, and the asparagus was like chewing on a stick. It felt like I was eating green wood! And to top it off, the waitress couldn't even get our orders right. We had to wait forever, she was completely disorganized, blaming her coworkers. It was a disaster. Please, save your money and avoid that place at all costs!

Food and service incredible! We were seated immediately by the lovely hostess. Our waitress Anna gave us amazing service and made sure we understood how everything worked. She gave us recommendations for certain items that ended up being our favorites! Food came very quickly and was delicious. A wonderful stop on our vacation, wish we had a place like this at home.

Ann was by far the best waitress for our first time trying this type of dining. Walked us through every aspect of the menu, recommended some amazing dishes, and gave us recommendations on the cook time and types of meat we should try. Will look forward to coming back with a big group and hope we can get Ann again!

My group had folks from Toronto and San Fran that had decent experiences at Gyukaku, so we thought it would be a safe pick. It was not - the experience was horrid, from service to food, it was shockingly bad. So if you are thinking of coming here because you had positive experiences elsewhere, reconsider.

This visit was disappointing and felt misleading, as the dish did not match what was advertised.

I visited Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ, and as a Japanese customer who has always enjoyed Gyu-Kaku, this experience was particularly upsetting.

The dish I ordered did not resemble the menu photo, and the portion was smaller. When I asked for clarification, I was repeatedly told that the portion is now 3 oz, while the menu photo reflects 3.5 oz.

If the portion size has changed, why has the menu not been updated? The discrepancy between what is shown and what is served is confusing and feels misleading.

What also bothered me was the presentation. At the very least, the thinly sliced ribeye should be properly unfolded, as shown in the menu photos—that is part of the experience at a BBQ restaurant. Even supermarket meat is better presented than this .Instead, it was served as a small, uneven portion, very different from what is advertised. I understand some variation can occur, but this felt like a significant difference.

What made the situation worse was how it was handled. When I questioned the dish, the server asked me to hand over the tongs and began unfolding the ribeye at the table to prove it was the same item. The photo I uploaded was taken after she unfolded the meat, and even then, it still looked noticeably different from the menu.

This raises the question—why was the dish not properly prepared and presented in the kitchen to begin with? Why did the server have to demonstrate this at the table only after I raised the concern?

A staff member who did not introduce himself continued to attribute everything to “corporate policy,” without offering a clear explanation or acknowledging the concern. This lack of accountability was disappointing.

I came in to enjoy a simple lunch but left feeling frustrated. Mistakes can happen, but the dismissive response made the experience worse.

I feel like nowadays the quality isn’t always great, yet some restaurants still overcharge.

Terrible service! 3 different servers during our 90 minute visit. Portions super small for 3! 2nd waitress was the rudest of them all. It seemed we are bothering her. Over $200 for rude service on Mother’s Day!
