Hangry Joe's Wicker Park Hot Chicken & Wings

Heyyyy, I recently visited Hangry Joe's Hot Chicken for the first time, and as a traveler who has tried many chicken spots in Chicago, I can confidently say this place stands out! The chicken was absolutely delicious—crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor🤤🤤. And what made my experience even better was their amazing customer service. The staff was incredibly sweet, and the manager was exceptionally friendly, making me feel welcomed from the moment I walked in.

If you're a chicken lover, this place is a must-visit! I’ll definitely be coming back whenever I’m in town. Omg, it was my wonderful experience I had 🤩.

We ordered their wings and Korean chicken nuggets and everything tasted awful, was ice cold, and stale like everything was made hours ahead of the order. Their customer service skills are horrendous. From the servers to managers they all talk down to you and are rude.

*update: When I called to address the ice cold wings I did not receive a response like the one below. I hope training of managers and servers does occur. I will never return to an establishment that treats their customers with disrespect.

Just horrible. My husband picked up a large order for home and I have to say I had never eaten anything quite this bad. Fries were really soggy and wet. Mac and cheese was worse than the store-bought Kraft packages. The macaroni were sooo soft, they disintegrated as soon as they touched the mouth, the cheese was very fake-tasting, like cardboard. Quite sure there was no real cheese used, not even close. The wings were mostly soggy and looked slightly undercooked, had to put them in my oven additionally because the meat would not easily come off the bone without extra cooking. Also, some of the wings were just covered in some disgusting, overly sweet, syrupy-tasting sauce. On top of that, they forgot a part of the order and we didn't realize until my husband brought it home. When he called to ask for that item to be refunded, he was asked to go back and pick up the item. We don't even live in that neighborhood and have a 3month old baby, so it was not feasible for him to make another trip to the restaurant. After multiple phone calls from the staff, they said they would refund but had to first figure out how. I would think they would have some protocol in place to refund orders or parts of orders when such mistakes happen. Still not sure we were refunded, have to check in a couple of days. I was misled by the high starred reviews on Google maps but have no intention to go back.

I've been a dedicated fan of Hangry Joe's since their initial opening in Naperville, and I'm continually impressed by the high-quality, delicious offerings. Even on extremely busy days like the Super Bowl, the staff remains incredibly kind and efficient, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. This spot truly stands out with its amazing food! A must-visit for anyone looking for top-notch flavors and a satisfying meal. Five stars all the way!

Ordered a pick up order and when I got there I was delighted to hear they were still preparing it as I was looking forward to some really crispy chicken and fry’s. Not the case at all, soggiest fries I have ever had, like they had been sitting there for an hour. Saving grace was the chicken sandwich of great quality and was pretty good, but overall disappointed.

Saw a post about Hangry Joe’s in a local Facebook group and decided to try their lunch special. Great wrap, the chicken was on point and the pickles were tasty with a nice snap to them! Fry sauce was also excellent. Great lunch special!

The chicken was very expensive and bland as all out doors. Not an ounce of seasoning in the chicken batter or on the actual chicken. I tried a wet and dry rub both were mid AF. Lemon and cheese sauces, neither had an ounce of salt or pepper no flavor at all. The restaurant being empty on a weekend that is located on a busy street should have been my first sign to go elsewhere. Breading not crispy definitely should have been fried longer! Total waste of money. The staff was nice but this does not supersede mediocre overpriced undercooked food.

Ate here last night for the first time, my family absolutely love it. All 7 of us left with fully happy belly’s. My mom even brought wings back for my bonus dad because after eating we knew he had to try them. And he was already talking this morning about how we have to go back. Definitely would recommend!

Honestly SURPRISED. We got the 6 wing combo with buffalo. It is not traditional buffalo it is more liquidity BUT very good. The wings are juicy, flavorful, and CRISPY. Fries are just ok. We also got the leg and thigh combo. That skin! It's SO GOOOD. Chicken again is JUICY. It's in a weird spot, so that's the only reason I think this place isn't poppin. Can't wait to go back.
