I’ve eaten Heffer BBQ since their residency in the Back of the Yards, and they always come through with amazing food. My personal favorite is the brisket crunchwrap, a majestic take on the item made famous by a certain chain that told us to run for the border and that a chihuahua wanted its food. This version is 1000x better and made with care and a delightful mix of flavor. I’ve also had their brisket sandwich, the chopped cheese, the tremendous burger, and some of the other dishes with different meats, and you just can’t go wrong with anything from Heffer. Shawn and Leonor are super kind and hard working, busting their behinds to craft a delicious experience. I saw some comments elsewhere about a recent wait time and selling out before the end of day. It’s two people doing their best to make amazing food in a pop-up setting. TWO PEOPLE. They are always playing a road game, lugging everything to various locations, and they still manage to deliver a delicious first-class meal every time. I’ve been in BBQ restaurants where I’ve waited much longer and with much less flavor. They are up front about their setup and food being available until it’s sold out. In most cases you’re not waiting long at all and you’re gonna have a full menu of food available. They have a weekend setup at Monochrome in Pilsen and the monthly stop at Skylark on Halsted. Give them a try, they’re awesome!

Off the beaten path, in the middle of the south nowhere, hidden bbq joint with a solid beer garden, music and vibe. $15 gets you half a pound of brisket, sides are $6 as of this writing. There are also bbq sandwiches and stuff like that.

I love Heffer BBQ. The people are awesome and the food reflects their awesomeness, attention to detail, and care for creating flavorful menu items of the highest quality. My go-to is the crunchwrap; you can get it with just brisket or a magical tres carnes combination. Either way you can’t go wrong, as the crunchwrap is delicious. The brisket chopped cheese is top notch; I devoured it quickly because of how good it is. I finally tried the brisket sandwich and it’s packed with delicious brisket on a nicely-cooked bun. I’ve also had a brunch meal there when they collaborated with Butterheel Biscuits and of course everything was amazing. They serve a deviled egg potato salad that is incredible. I’m on a mission to try their burgers; your best chance to get those is on the weekends. Their residency at Whiner Beer Co. concludes at the end of August 2024, but they have some cool things on the horizon after that. Check them out at Whiner Beer in the Back of the Yards, and follow them on social media (they are great at updating the menu on Instagram!) to find out when and where you can try Heffer BBQ’s amazing food.

Parking: Easy to find parking near the building or nearby streets.

Stop by last Thursday July 18th , I attended an Beer bar crawl never knew you all existed & I ordered 6 piece Bbq wings and when I tell you they did not make it to the table 😩 I almost passed out 🥵 The temperature perfect , tasteful enjoyable perfect I have never had wings that taste exclusive. They were so good. I came back this morning to get more this time. I got a 12 piece 10 stars✨🌟⭐️✨⭐️✨⭐️🌟⭐️✨

Heffer BBQ is the best traditional barbeque in the city, hands down. The people are friendly (in sharp contrast to another popular TX bbq place in the city), the Whiner beers are delicious and acidic (a perfect complement to the meat), and the sides are far from an afterthought. I love the smoked wings, bbq crunchwrap, and salad they have there.

Came once with a friend to check out the brewery but the bbq stole the show and has become a regular staple.

Every visit seems to have a new item to try. One of the best burgers in the city but the bacon burnt ends on the weekend brunch are a must get when available.

Great staff who always seem to have a smile on their face as well.

Best bbq I’ve had in the city. Better go early before it’s all eaten.

Tucked away in a brewery, open area and good vibe to grab a burger and a beer. The ground brisket is a different twist on a burger and I enjoyed it. The overall flavors of the brisket and the simplicity of the the rest of the burger allows the burger to be the star. Definitely interested in trying more options on their menu. Doesn’t come with a side, so I got the Elotes which were good as well

I really want to be honest with my review However reading some of the responces from comments made by paying customers sharing their personal experience some seem a little harsh and at times defensive.BUT........Here GoesThe Ribs were good having some Tip left on the cut made them tasty they came with nothing else.(Had to ask for sauce)??The Hot Link was tasty however for the price in the container it was just one Link not a piece bread no sauce just one lonely Sausage. The portion of the Kale Salad was really small for the price. The Potato Salad was ??The Cook on the largely cut Unpeeled Potatoes in the Salad were uneven some were soft some were hard having to discard the eaten peelings because we couldn't digest. It was our first time and would consider going back maybe just for the Ribs and we can skip these 2 sides & the Hot Link.

My wife and I stopped in after reading about their brisket burger online. We got the burger, brisket, potato salad, slaw, and poblano pasta. The food was phenomenal and the service was excellent. We will be back.
