This is my 4th visit to Herb, it is a place I like to share with out of town guests as a unique Chicago experience. We had some confusion with the menus this time, as our group of 5 were given menus that had different information and did not match. Also they do not communicate ahead of time when you make a reservation that everyone in the group has to do the same level of courses, which was confusing to our guests. The Chef and her team curated a beautiful experience! The restaurant was busy, but it still felt quaint and quiet. We had the seven course pairing with wine. I recommend this for any special occasion or just a fun date night. The prawns were amazing!
The food was amazing! Incredibly well presented, fresh, absolutely delicious. Thai at its very best and beyond. However... We chose the 3 course menu, and while the second item arrived after a long but acceptable time, the third seemed to never reach us. We grew tired and were literally on the brink of leaving when (honestly, after maybe 45-50 minutes) it showed up. For an upscale, expensive restaurant, this is frankly unacceptable.
