I can't say enough positive things about this place. Food is amazing and the service is great. Both times we have eaten here our servers were so friendly. We will definitely be back đ

The in-house dry aged ribeye is amazing, as is the lobster fried rice. They do have set menu if you want to try small amounts of various cuts. I think they could improve on the variety and flavors of the sides. Service is very attentive and friendly, professional. Stress free parking!

I came here for Restaurant Week 2024 and it was an amazing experience!!! I highly recommend and will be coming back for their regular menu. We were seated in one of the private booths - party of 4. And they cooked the meat right in front of us.

The food at Holu is mind blowingly good. I have never had a better steak in my life. I recommend the signature meals. That way, you get to taste more of their amazing steaks they have available. You can also add on more seafood or some side ala carte.

We had a wonderful experience! We got the classic package and added the tartare and crab cake. We definitely ordered too much food, but it was all wonderful, especially the tartare.
I have heard about this restaurant for a long time, so I decided to try it out with my friends tonight. There were only a few other tables dining in the restaurant. I was surprised that this restaurant does not offer a la carte menu. We were one man and three ladies, and any of the three set menus offered would have been too much food for us. Since we had no choice, we ended up ordering the "classic" which seemed to have the least number of dishes on the menu. But it was still too much to finish. We left the last two dishes and it was a complete waste. The ingredients were generally good. We only ordered two bottles of beer and a tea. The final bill was nearly $600. I think it is too expensive for Korean BBQ. Although it is good, it is not worth it. Especially limiting guests to ordering only set menus, which I think is unreasonable. It was an experience but I won't come back again !
I donât recommend the foods here, I rather pay the same value to have dinner at maple and ash

Wonderful food served by a warm, knowledgeable, efficient server. He engaged with our group, talking about shared experiences, explained the process and what each cut of meat was, and we never felt rushed.
HOLU is more than a restaurantâitâs an epicurean adventure. Derived from the Chinese word âhuo lu,â meaning fire pit, HOLU elevates dining to an art form.
The Meat Paradise:
Prepare your taste buds for a symphony of flavors. HOLU boasts the worldâs finest meats, including USDA Prime beef, dry-aged in-house with Himalayan pink salt. But thatâs not allâsnow-aged Japanese A5 Wagyu, Australian Wagyu, and North American Wagyu grace their menu. Each bite is a celebration of carnivorous delight.
Seafood Symphony:
Beyond the sizzle of steak, HOLU surprises with sustainable seafood. The âSea To Shareâ platter combines petite Kusshi and Beasoleil oysters, Argentine prawns, Maine lobster, and more. Itâs like a maritime orchestra playing on your palate.
Omakase Magic:
Picture this: a smokeless, ceramic charcoal grill where skilled chefs prepare omakase-style menus. Fresh organic vegetables meet perfectly seared meats, creating harmonious dishes. The Spanish bluefin toro, Japanese hamachi loin, and Hokkaido hadate uni dance togetherâa culinary ballet.
Sarah, Our Culinary Maestro:
And now, letâs talk about Sarahâthe star of our experience. Her charisma and caring service elevated our meal. Leo, our server, guided us through the menu with finesse. His recommendations? Spot-on. His smile? Infectious. He transformed dinner into a memorable symphony of flavors.
Refined Beverage Selection:
Pair your meal with impeccably curated wine, spirits, sake, and creative cocktails. HOLU knows that great food deserves equally great libations. Sarah might even suggest a perfect wine pairingâtrust her; sheâs a maestro.
Complimentary Lot Parking:
Oh, and did I mention complimentary lot parking? HOLU ensures your dining experience begins stress-free.
Final Notes:
Yes, HOLU is a splurge, but itâs worth every dollar. Treat yourself, celebrate life, and savor the magic that unfolds at HOLU. And when you visit, raise your glass to Leo and Sarahâthe culinary dream team.
Remember, this review reflects my experience, and your taste buds might dance to a different tune. Bon appétit! ???

What a wonderful dinner!! The service was next level and so welcoming. Iâm surprised this restaurant isnât a hard to get reservation, it should be! But for now, what a gem. If you have a special occasion or just really want some top quality steak and delicious balanced cocktails, go! Parking is easy and plentiful in a dedicated lot, which is a plus!

The service was amazing, we had one of the BEST Martiniâs ever, and EVERY portion of the meal from the salad, to the vegetables, the RICE! AMAZING, the stew ?, AND the numerous cuts of meat cooked perfectly as desired were like eating a GIFT FROM THE GODS!! Simply put HOLU IS OUTSTANDING!!!
Also, recommend the Water Taxi from Michigan Ave to China Town. Once off the boat it was only a very short 10-15 minute walk to the restaurant. Made for a delightful and delicious evening!! Even bought groceries at the Asian Market 2 doors down from the restaurant - AMAZING!!
Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options.
Dietary restrictions: Gluten free
Parking: Large parking lot across the street from the restaurant and on street parking.

I spent my hard earned money here and waited over 30 minutes for service. We ordered a surf and turf omakase and the food was barely mediocre at best. Left feeling hungry and disappointed.

The service was terrible, and it impacted our experience. We didn't seem to have a single waitress who was responsible for us, so instead had a rotating group of people come by who did not communicate to each other. We had the hostess come by and misidentify the oysters we had, the bartender come by with our drinks and not know which ones they were, and neither of the two other waitresses who came by infrequently ever introduced themselves or explained how the experience at Holu works, and they cook the food at your table so there is some explanation needed. The food WAS excellent, and the experience very cool. But again, the service let us down. I had to remind the waitress to put the last piece of meat on the grill after it was sitting for 20 minutes or so on our table. She also overcooked the lobster tail we decided to splurge on. We've only been this one time, and won't try again. But it's possible this was just a terrible night of service from the restaurant and not how it always is. But that's the night we got.
