Waited over 1 hour for food. Not close to the downtown area (30 minute uber ride from River north hotel ) Got sick 6 hours after I consumed this food which is disappointing.
The food is okay, not necessarily delicious but not terrible. With all the good reviews, i expected more.
This is the best breakfast ever. Hands down. I wish they had one in Detroit. Anytime I visit Chicago I must stop by here. The meals are enough for 2-3 people to feast on. So be careful about ordering too much food. Made that mistake my first time. Me and my wife always split a meal.
This is by far the best tasting restaurant I have encountered in a very long time! Food was so tasteful melts in your mouth. Flavor of the food hands down made with love staff was beautiful friendly. Definitely coming back full fat and friendly!š„°
I must say, this place is. It overrated, it definitely lives up to the hype. Great food great atmosphere. Will definitely come back to try even more
Oh! Good ole Honeybear Cafe!
Social media has yall in a chokehold with this place!
This place is a short walk from the subway, and if you drive, there is plenty of parking. This establishment isn't close to the Magnificent Mile or Downtown Chicago, but it's easily accessible.
I would recommend you do have a reservation because this place is definitely packed. Upon arriving, you'll check in and wait. With a reservation, I still waited roughly 20 minutes. If you book a late reservation close to closing, dont feel too bad because this place was still packed, and we were not rushed out at all during any time during our meal.
Now I'll say this place is a bit overhyped, and I'll blame social media for that. The prices are a bit up there for a breakfast meal. It plated well for you to post your pictures to social media to say you've been. However, it's no different from any other meal you'll have for breakfast. I will say in comparison to price and meal size, it's definitely worth it, but if you want something small, it will be hard to achieve here. Most tables seem to have left a good amount of food behind.
The place itself was decorated based on this bear theme and colorful. More of a diner style establishment.
It is a bit noisy with folks chattering and soft music playing in the background, but it isn't unbearable.
The staff was attentive and polite despite the wait here and there.
All in all, it's not a bad visit or a bad meal, but it wasn't the most memorable meal I had in Chicago.
Holy wow, I was not expecting this French toast! From just looking at the menu, it doesn't feel like it's going to be anything special compared to other chain diners with explosive menus of flavored bready breakfast foods but I was wrong! The French toast (and I saw the pancakes) are truly unique in how they look and how they taste. The French toast is made from challah bread which I don't find very often and it makes for an exceptional bite.
They have a BYOB juice flight, so you bring your own adult beverage but choose from their juices - I just like juice so I just did that and it was delightful! The pineapple juice tastes fresh, I don't know if it is but it definitely doesn't taste like generic can juice I have had. The blood orange is delightful.
The corned beef hash was also a special treat! I wasn't expecting it to be homemade!
The portions are huge too! The French toast was actually an upgraded side for me corned beef hash and it was huge!!
They do get busy so the service can be a slow at moments, like it took a minute to get my empty water glass refilled BUT we knew that they were popular and for good reasons so it wasn't bad service by any means. Just a bit slow!
Absolutely would come back!
What a special place, congratulations!!!!
I went on a Tuesday morning and it was pretty crowded, so it's clear this place is popular. The atmosphere and decor is really cute and they give you a little snack while you're looking at the menu. I got the Bayou Scramble with a side of French toast but the server didn't tell me that each topping was $2.99 so I essentially paid $9 for a handful of strawberries, blueberries and bananas. That was frustrating. Other than that, everything else was great.
Amazing breakfast spot that was a random find while in the area. Great service and really cute atmosphere. Kids meals are free with adult purchase & the portions of my sonās teddy bear pancakes were huge! Actually portions of everything is huge. The churro French toast was incredibly delicious and included as a side to my omeletteā¦small upcharge well worth it!! If ever in the area again it will be a must to to revisit!

Great sweet dishes but the savory items were extremely heavy to a point of not being edible that I had to send back. I wasn't expecting healthy food but the amount of fat used in their dishes was out there.
