FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DO NOT EVER (EVER!!!) STEP INSIDE WITHOUT YOUR ID! EVER!!
This might be my favorite business in the city. First of all, their draft menu is huge and rotates all the time. You can always find quality imported Belgian beer, but then you flip the menu over and there's loads of other unique beers. Some brewed in Chicago, some from other cities, and even some other imported stuff. I frequently find rare and unique beers here that I would have never thought to seek out. Plus, they have ciders and meade on draft.
Then, if somehow you don't see anything on draft you want, they have an entire laminated booklet full of bottled beers. Again, heavy on the Belgian stuff but plenty of other options too. They even have NA beers, gluten free, a good wine selection, and house cocktails.
All this alone is enough to bring you in, but the vibes are also immaculate. The place has a old timey, wooden everything charm and is covered in interesting branded beer signs. There's a second bar on the first floor and a third one upstairs if it's busy. There's garage door windows that they open when the weather is nice. And there's a gorgeous patio in the back. One of the rare places to eat/drink outside that's not next to a street or parking lot. I love coming here on weekdays to get work done when it's not crowded, or bringing friends to hang out on a weekend.
The food here is good too. It's not usually what draws me in, but the bread butter board or cheese board are always a nice complement to the beers.
My only complaint is that nothing here is cheap (I always end up spending $40-60/person just on beers). But it's so, so worth it.

Service was top notch. We weren't a fan of the food and choices, but not their fault. Neat place. Definitely worth a try if in the area.

Great Brewpub experience on the North Side. Massive selection of Belgian style beer including some unique glassware. I ordered the burger, as usual. Large, quality beef patties, smashed and crispy. A bit sloppy and a lot of food to finish but delicious all around. Significant amount of cheese, so be prepared for a meltdown. Fries and sauce were crispy and full of garlic.
I would give the burger an 8.8 out of 10

Popped in on NYE and we had a lovely time yapping and indulging in Poutine and desserts. Highly recommend and will absolutely come back for more.

Ive been going to Hopleaf for years, and today was the first time I've ever had an issue. I was initially unhappy with the size of my to-go salad. (Be careful, the apple salad is smaller than you'd expect due to the compressed apples) Hopleaf not only got me a larger salad, but an extra order of fries to make up for the ones that had gone cold. The burger was fantastic, as always. I truly appreciate y'all being a part of this neighborhood.

Paul and the hostess are amazing! We didn’t get a chance to catch her name, but Paul took great care of us and our food was delicious. He has great beer recommendations! I brought my mom to town to visit, and those two hit it off like a house on fire! Thank you Hopleaf ❤️
Amazing Smash Burgers! We will be back.

Overall an amazing experience. First, was sat in the loft area which was a great seating area. Second, the beer selection is massive and seems to have something for everyone. Third, the service was prompt, curious, and swift. Would come back anytime in the area.

Very deep selection of beers and beverages, anchored in a Belgian theme. There are lot of on tap unique beers. The food menu is not as lengthy; it’s very well curated and it’s hard to go wrong. The kitchen is open to see, and you can observe how well it’s run. Their signature mussels served with a huge portion of fries is a must have. Very good overall. I do wish that the fries were a bit more carefully prepared to fit with the rest of the menu (they seem to come out undercooked and less-crispy often).

They know their beer and are not shy to talk about it. If beer is as much experience as it is taste and lift, this is a great place to be. If you're lucky, you'll catch an exclusive tasting and be elevated all the more.
