After a few nights in town for a conference, I found myself at the hotel bar on the last night. Glad I did. The food and drink was just fine, and the pleasant hospitality - in the form of Gustavo the barman and a few other patrons - was a nice conclusion to my trip.

The gentlemen that work at this hotel restaurant/bar are superb! Extremely kind and full of hospitality from the heart. Food is great as well. I’d recommend eating here even if you’re not staying the night at the hotel. Someone give them a pay raise. God bless them and their work!

Lobby bar located across the front desk, atmosphere is great and super friendly people work here.
My wife and I stopped by for dinner with our son and Gustavo take a great care of us.
Very knowledgeable with the menu recommendations.
We had a Mushroom swiss hamburger and Salmon, both taste delicious.
For dessert we took for to go Lava cake and Creme Brulee cheesecake and I have to say that the cheesecake is something that you definetly have to try.
Thanks again and will be back ?

Service was a little slow, but it was clear that they were understaffed for the crowd at that time. That being said, Gustavo was making the rounds and taking care of people as quickly as he could; he provided excellent service in addition to making a couple good recommendations for places to go afterwards. Neither the food nor drinks appeared to be anything special on the menu, but from the fish to the cocktails, everything tasted great!

Nicely done, Hothouse.

As a university student restaurant worker myself, I’m very understanding of workers and if they are having a bad day. That being said, me writing this review means A LOT.

First night I stayed in, My sister and I got the breakfast package from the hotel. When we got to the breakfast bar, we specifically told them we had the breakfast package! When we finished our meal, we had to pay for the whole $75 when WE ALR PAID FOR OUR MEAL. Now, I def tipped and didn’t mind paying for the tip, but they charged my card again. Just because we r teenagers, doesn’t mean y’all get to ignore us and SCAM us for more money.

Second day, my family (this time w my parents) and I walk in. We asked for coffee, but just for me, my mom, and my dad. Not for sister. The server proceeds to take my coffee cup. THEN I ASKED FIVE TIMES, “Could I pls have my cup back because I want coffee”. He proceeds to ignore me THEN leaves. My sister says “wait!!” When he’s leaving and he proceeds to leave. Then I cried because like I felt like I was being treated less than a human.

Not disregarding the restaurants value, but this was my experience!

It's not just another hotel bar. Neighborhood locals are regular customers. The food is very well thought out and made fresh. The bartender, Jose, has been there for many years and is amazing at what he does. He makes everyone feel like a regular.

Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant is very spacious and easily maneuverable. The bar actually has an area to pull up for people in wheelchairs or mobility scooters etc.

Thoroughly enjoyed our time “staying in” and just eating in the hotel. The food was great and the service was even better.

Wheelchair accessibility: On the main floor of the hotel. Fully accessible. Bench seating available.

The hotel and the staff were all lovely. DO NOT GO TO THE HOTEL RESTAURANT!!!The Hothouse staff is a brood of vipers!see my review of the restauran:Families not welcome! DISCRIMINATES AGAINST CHILDREN!! we were staying at the Hilton DoubleTree upstairs for 4 nights. We sat in a corner and asked for a high chair. we told them that we wanted to feed our son baby food.First a very aggressive gentlemen came and told us we were not allowed and we had to leave.I asked where w could feed our baby while we stayed in the hotel. He brought the manager and she said she would put us in a closed room in the back (after she removed some carts and other Junk stored back there)They obviously just did not want a baby in the hotel restaurant. We were welcomed at every other restaurant we went to in Chicago… and we cannot even feed our baby in our own hotel?Edit: This happened in the evening. To be fair, the morning staff were very nice. One gentleman in the evening was also very kind.

Very laid-back atmosphere with an upscale look and feel. The bartender was holding down both the bar and table service. I was impressed from the moment we entered the hotel and could see the restaurant from the front doors. The menu is simple yet flavorful and filling. I ate the BBQ pulled pork quesadilla and my daughter had the French onion soup, and we shared a sushi roll. This was the perfect lunch we didn't know we wanted. 10 out of 10 Must try!!!

HothouseI eat at Hothouse whenever I come into town. Their food is (no exaggeration.) top-notch. Everything‘s done to taste delicious. The food is not overpowered, which is very much appreciated. The flavors are very balanced. And I have to mention the drinks are also delicious. I have eaten the burgers which are cooked just right and to order. I’ve had the fish and chips which was also perfect and the salmon and Buffalo wings which were simply excellent. Thank you very much to the chef Jasper, as well as the excellent bartender Jose A, the waitstaff of Eric Jose G. Your service is attentive and sincere. I can’t help but notice you were constantly moving and doing your best to provide a great service experience.

The last time I stayed at this hotel was pre-pandemic and I did not have a good experience. What an amazing difference this trip was! The property is beautiful, the room was spacious and comfortable and the biggest difference was the staff. Every single person I encountered, from check-in, to the bar for dinner to the text messages checking on my stay, was caring, professional, and super helpful. We say at this hotel because of access to Northwestern but the location is fabulous for anywhere you want to go in Chicago.
