Il Milanese is hands-down one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had in Chicago. From start to finish, everything was impeccable — the service, the atmosphere, and most importantly, the food. My mother-in-law was craving Italian for her birthday, and Carlo and his team absolutely delivered a special evening we’ll never forget. We tasted so many incredible dishes, but the lamb shank special with risotto was on another level — tender, flavorful, and perfectly paired. Truly the best I’ve ever had. This isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a place that makes you feel like family while serving world-class Italian cuisine. Thank you, Carlo, for making my mother-in-law’s birthday unforgettable. We’ll be back often and will be recommending Il Milanese to everyone we know!

The focaccia alone is worth writing home about—pillowy, warm, and absolutely addictive. I nearly had food FOMO when I saw my friend’s dreamy mushroom risotto… but then my short rib arrived and I stopped questioning my life choices. It was fall-apart tender and full of rich, deep flavor.
My husband ordered the veal ossobuco, and let’s just say—every dish at our table was to die for. From start to finish, the meal was unforgettable.
I wanted to like this place, I really did, but the food was tired, bland, and very inauthentic (and yes I spend a few months in Italy a year). It was very overpriced and the pasta was overcooked. The zucchini blossoms were nice though. I definitely wouldn’t go back.

A friend recommended this neighborhood restaurant and it did not disappoint. The service was impeccable. The food was so fresh and amazing. The steak was absolutely perfect. The vibe was real upbeat. The staff brought my wife a birthday dessert on the house. Great affordable place and we will be back sooner than later. Highly recommend a reservation but you can chill at the bar if you have time.

This is the go to spot for high class dining mixed with phenomenal atmosphere. The food is to die for, the service is friendly and upbeat. Their patio is great for summer. If you are looking for the best Italian food in Chicago come here!

We had the carbonara and lasagna, both very delicious. The carbonara has a bit more meaty smokiness than I usually prefer, but the sauce is silky smooth. The endive salad is to die for.
This is out of the business's control, and more indicative of this neighborhoods entitlement, but it's so loud in there that my ears were actually ringing when I left. I'll be sure to come much earlier in hopes to avoid how unpleasant it made the whole experience.

This is the real deal here in Chicago! Unbelievable fresh pasta and amazing authentic dishes from Italy. The owner is incredible and treats everyone like family. There are a ton of great Italian restaurants in Chicago, but none compare to this one.

Best pappardelle in town! Great pappardelle bace! We loved all our appetizers including fried zucchini flower with stuffed cheese inside, fava beans, and soft focaccia bread! We strongly recommend to try their white wine too! Again the pappardelle noodle were chewy and flavorful and it seems like it is housemade pasta
