My fiancé and I came here yesterday night on our way to a concert and it was just what we needed! The food was flavorful and warm, and the proportions were perfect for what we needed! The service is awesome and everyone was very friendly and helpful as we didn’t know what we were ordering/how to order at first. Definitely would recommend!

Atmosphere and ambiance is pretty welcoming. Except the staff. One of the female servers always has a nasty demeanor, never responsive to a simple “thank you” but will hustle you for tips at the counter. Other female server has ripped me off once, overstating food prices. Food is pretty average in taste but pricy! The cost of coming here outweighs the benefit, if you ask me.

They should get real forks
They should get real forks
Paid for jollof rice and goat meat and got a single piece of goat meat (mostly bone, not much meat). It was delicious, sure, but I do feel robbed!

We live in Detroit n whenever we in Chicago we get Nigerian food at iyanze, used to be the best but it has since lost that rank. heads up, the customer service here at iyanze is terrible. Omg. Mama putt in Nigerian markets have more courtesy for customers food than these business people in America. Food was manageable but tasted stale and spoilt. The goat meat and fried rice the same. I only enjoyed the pepper soup, jollof rice and meat pie. Never trying their egusi soup cos everyone says it's bad now. The guy and lady that served us was rude and was sorta pressuring us to order and get going. Idk was not our vibe, we went to Southside African Restaurant and one other Nigerian restaurants on Broadway and yo the customer service was better. Iyanze needs to do better
Called to ask about portion sizes because I was placing my order online and planned on sharing with a couple of friends. The employee that picked up was super curt and rude in her responses and I decided not to purchase anything. It’s sad because I was excited to try it after seeing the reviews

Update: Since i posted my initial review the service has gone downhill. I received 1 piece of drumstick instead of 1/4 fried chicken.
09/20- My food items were incomplete. Yessterday my chicken wasn't delivered and today I ordered 2 chicken and it wasn't added as well. My food comes spilled because the packaging is horrible.
The food has no spiciness to it and makes me borderline nauseous.

This restaurant smells really bad and the lady/server that attended to me today was very rude. She gave me wrong order. The food doesn’t taste good or look good. They can do better.

I have been to Iyanze twice before, and the food and service was great. Today was not the case. My boyfriend and I drove almost an hour from the south suburbs to dine in. I love egusi and efo rio and I eat Nigerian food regularly. The jollof rice and turkey we ordered was great. My egusi tasted spoiled. My boyfriend’s efo tastes spoiled as well. After my boyfriend mentioned this to the lady 2x and nothing being done (she did ask if we wanted something else, but it was like their was no urgency to help us or fix our problem) I took the egusi up to the front and explained that it tasted spoiled. She informed me that she could give me something else but when I asked if there was any other egusi she just said it’s from the same pot so she couldn’t give it to me. I ended up getting pepper soup but I just don’t understand how they would keep the same pot of spoiled tasting soup to serve to other customers. If in a service business you should do whatever to make your customer’s experience satisfactory. Our plan was to dine in and order food to go but after that and just them seeming unwilling to help, we just mentioned the issue to them, exchanged the egusi and efo for pepper soup and left.

I have loved every food I have had here. I don't like guessing prices and trying to know what goes with what. So everything I seem to choose is by chance and hopefully I'll have enough money on me to pay for it. My sister and I venture in periodically but I would like to take colleagues without us having to ask other people in line what is a full meal. If I it weren't for that, the food alone would get 5+ stars from me.
***Update, I went again about 3 weeks ago. I'm still trying to figure out how the bill for a couple small soups and 3 moi mois came to $39?! Of course, the prices were not showing on the display board. So it's anyone's guess. In route to my destination I looked at the receipt breakdown and it had some rice type of meal. There was no rice a anything ordered. I actually took a picture of what was ordered. I really wanted to take it all back but my family didn't think I should drive all the way back. Also a guy came in with a group. He had to keep reminding the server about things that his group didn't get but had paid for. I just won't go there again. They NEVER seem to improve on service. That whole "guess the price" deal must have paid for the nice upgrade to the seating area. It does look nice.
Recommended dishes: Egusi Soup
I hope the staff which I think is the owner’s daughter would be more polite. Very rude and disgusting attitude. The food is not free we are paying for it, it’s not free even if it’s free, no one deserve to be treated as such.
