Never be anything more or less than exactly what you are here and you will fit in perfectly. Jesus himself would drink here and smile upon it. I can’t be entirely certain he didn’t. I frequently call this bar my spiritual home. After traveling fairly extensively, there is one bar in Cambodia that held a candle to it, but their entire staff has turned over and it no longer exists. J&M is the par exemplar dive bar. A paragon of cheap drinks and good people. Just don’t tell anybody else about it or it might lose its character. If my people spread my ashes here, my ghost wouldn’t be mad about it. Truly an unrivaled place of myth and legend. Also, a flagrant dump, in the most honorific sense that those words can be said. In a single word: Perfect. May it live forever.

Small little bar with the nice pool table, Future customers should know that it's cash only.

Definitely one of the divey-est bars in Chicago, and in Ukrainian Village that is saying something! It is a favorite to return to again and again. And lots of regulars do. Plus they're a friendly bunch along with the staff.

Amazing service, cheap drinks. An authentic Chicago bar. Couldn’t ask for a better spot to grab a few Old Styles.

Perfect Chicago neighborhood bar. Great relaxed atmosphere and a nice crowd but not overcrowded, even on a Saturday night. I only wish I lived closer to it.

Neighborhood taverns like this are dwindling. Experience a classic while you still can. 9
Nice local spot in Ukrainian Village. I have passes by this place many times and expected a dark, musty old place but was pleased with how nice it was. Service was great. I will definitely be back.

This is one of the best dive bars I’ve been to in the city. I wish I lived closer to the neighborhood, I’d be here all of the time.
Always heard about this place and finally made it out. Cozy and clean, see you there.
