Awesome Jewish deli with a big menu, located in some historic building just a little off the path. They serve giant piles of meat between bread slices + a pickle. Which was exactly what I was looking for.

$18 for a sandwich on a roll, not even a sub, is the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard and i'm from NYC. If you walk north two blocks to Piatto Pronto, you can get a larger sandwich, same quality for $10. I don't know who this place thinks they are.

Prices are high, service is slow. Sandwiches are delicious. Wish they didn't charge extra for credit card payments. Tipping options don't start at 20% but who asks for tips on counter service?

Prices on menu don't match at the till. I wondered if I was charged for a different item than what I ordered. I was told that prices went up. Ook then can update on the menu or let customers know when ordering ! Also tried to charge me eftpos fee despite paying cash, which seems like a common occurrence based on other reviews. Lox bagel was mid for all that.
I am always amazed when I see a list of the Chicago area's best delis that JB's is not on it. It may be because the indoor dining space is just passable. Nonetheless, the pastrami and corned beef are excellent and among the best this former New Yorker has ever had. The other sandwiches are terrific - all are overstuffed in keeping with great deli traditions. They also carry great side dishes and some take home meals. This place is a gem!!!!! Worth a trip. Additionally, the folks behind the counter are always genuinely nice and ready to help.

This deli has single-handedly kept me alive and well after getting super sick. I was ordering soups from other places that were either packaged without care, bland/unappetizing (making my nearly bedridden self have to get up and tweak the recipe), or had an unfair portion:cost ratio. I was about to settle for canned soup until coming across this deli on Google Maps. The chicken noodle and matzo ball soups taste like what I’d get at home. The knish had a buttery pastry shell STUFFED with peppery mashed potato. The soups came in a plastic tub, double wrapped in cling film, preventing any spillage. They also loaded me with extra crackers (tysm). I’d post pictures, but I ate it all! 😋 Once I’m actually well enough, I’m excited to visit this place to try one of their overstuffed sandwiches. Thank you JB’s Deli for unknowingly nursing me back to a point where I can write a review!
