I’ve been a customer since they first opened. Everything has been consistent; the food, the energy, the service and I love that the food is made to order. Highly recommend for gatherings, hangouts, dates and even work meetings. Overall, 10/10 🙏🏽🇵🇷🩵

If you're craving authentic Puerto Rican flavors in Chicago, Janellie Kitchen is the place to be. Nestled in the heart of the city, this vibrant, family-friendly spot serves up a blend of classic Puerto Rican dishes with a fresh, modern twist.

The star of the show is undoubtedly the mofongo, a savory mound of mashed plantains that's perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, usually paired with shrimp, chicken, or pork. The lechón asado (roast pork) is melt-in-your-mouth tender, with just the right balance of crispy skin and juicy meat. For those who love a hearty meal, the arroz con gandules (rice with pigeon peas) is a flavorful, comforting side dish that complements almost everything on the menu.

Portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable for the quality of food you're getting. The service is warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere is casual yet vibrant—perfect for a relaxed family dinner or a night out with friends.

The only downside might be the wait time during peak hours, as this place has become a local favorite. But once you taste the food, you'll agree it’s worth the wait. Whether you’re familiar with Puerto Rican cuisine or trying it for the first time, Janellie Kitchen is a must-visit for a taste of the island right in the heart of Chicago.

Nice place friendly waitress. Food had no flavor lacked salt. Lechon was dry with no flavor. Mofongo with shrimp was lacking flavor. The cook forgot to add seasoning to the food

If you’re searching for the most authentic Puerto Rican food in Chicago, Janelle’s Kitchen is the place to be. I’ve visited three times now, and every single meal has been absolutely phenomenal. The flavors are rich, vibrant, and true to Puerto Rican tradition. What truly sets them apart is how consistent everything is, you can taste the care and passion in every dish.

Every time I visit, I order the vianda, it’s that incredible! I’ve also tried the mofongo, pinchos, and pollo asado with arroz con gandules and maduros, and they never disappoint. Each dish is bursting with flavor and prepared with such precision, it feels like a warm embrace from the island itself.

What makes this experience even better is Janelle’s genuine hospitality. She goes out of her way to ensure every guest is treated like family, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. Together with her husband, they’ve mastered the art of bringing Puerto Rico’s vibrant culinary heritage to life in Chicago.

This restaurant is hands down the best place for Puerto Rican food outside of the island. If there were more than five stars, I would gladly give them! Do yourself a favor and make a trip to Janelle’s Kitchen! You won’t regret it.

Well since I saw the reviews of course I had to try coming from Detroit to see Marc Anthony. Don't go there with high expectations, food was re-heated from few days back pernil dry lack of flavor the only fresh thing we have was a pincho de pollo Frito con tostones. I don't understand why they think is okay to serve leftovers to paying customers. They have a cool place and location just need to start making fresh food.

Janellie’s Restaurant was by far AMAZING! My friend and I came to Chitown for a day trip from NYC and were highly recommended here. Did not disappoint. Need to come again and try other options on the menu. Thank you for the amazing hospitality, and for convincing us that we could not leave without trying that Flan 🍮😋😋. Hands down to you all!

Seriously hands down one of the best
PR spots I have been to. I have tried Cafe Rosa all the way near Cicero/Burbank area and that was pretty good but this restaurant takes the cake for me. The pastelitos were fried perfect and great amount of meat and price is on point! The rice reminds me of a PR neighbor I had and it is truly authentic taste!! The Jibarito sliders are *chef’s kiss AMAZING!! right size and amount for the price. I definitely will be going back and strongly recommend to give them a chance. The location might be a little hard with parking but good news is the bus stops right down the same block and you can get there via train for the most part. Atmosphere was chill for going in during the day but I’m sure it gets packed around dinner time. They even have PR board games to keep you busy while waiting for food and the place looked clean and created with love. I must say even their food taste like it was made by someone who has passion for that they are doing. Do yourself a favor and get something from here! You will not be disappointed!
