This was my first time here and I was so excited to find Joan Bing in Chicago! It's a stall inside the Metra Market. They have screens to order from and offer different flavors of protein to add to the Jian bing. We came an hour or so before close and there was only one person making them which led to a longer wait. The portion size was nice, but I was a bit disappointed by the shrimp one. Not only was the shrimp overcooked and hard, there were only 3 pieces the size of a half dollar. Also I had asked for the spice level to be medium and it didn't seem to have ANY spice at all. The pulled pork one had a nice flavor, but that too didn't seem to have any spice and medium was also requested. Two jian bings came out to around $35 with tip which in my opinion rather steep. I would come here again to try another flavor but hopefully it will have some spice and substance to it.

Very good location. Friendly host. Tea monster brown sugar tea is too sweet, yet the other earl gray tea bobba tea is too plain. The Jian bin sauce is too salty for me. In general, I like the location and how friendly the staffs are there but the food taste can be improved.

Yum! I love jianbing and had not had this in so long! We ordered the dried pork with seaweed, and it was an explosion of flavors. We loved the umami with the spicy. It was so good! And the wontons add a little crunch! This booth is located in the train station's French market. There are so many options there for good food. There is a little seating area with string lights. Very cute for being adjacent to a train terminal.

They make awesome jianbings exactly like in China!! I loved their Crawfish, 5 Hours Pulled Pork, and Smoked Bacon jianbings. For spicy food lovers, you can elect for three levels of spicy - mild, medium or hot. You can select non-spicy as well. I recommend paying extra to add egg for additional flavor. It is fun watching your jianbing being cooked to order.

So I was about to give up on finding the BEST Jianbing in Chicago and gave this last spot a try, I was MINDBLOWN. FYI I have never tried crawfish in my LIFE because of all the WORK it takes to de-shell and you end up with a tiny lil thing. Crawfish Jianbing - INCREDIBLE, I love the fushion to the traditional version, juicy, crunchy, sweet and savory. Anyways, I defintely recommend y'all stop by and grab yourself a snack while you're in the area!

JIAN makes a unique crawfish jianbing with plenty of crawfish tails, crispy wonton strips, and a lacy, barely-there egg layer. It's essentially impossible to pick up with either your hands or with chopsticks, so expect to get messy. Could they have used less mayo? Absolutely, in my book, but admittedly my book doesn't ever have that much mayo in it. I should have probably ordered it spicy and maybe also added pickles. I would have an aneurysm if I saw any kind of bing on sale for $13.50 in China, but for the West Loop, it's reasonable, especially given how huge it is and how much crawfish they put in there. It's definitely a full meal. Note that you order from a tablet, so don't do what I did and stand there awkwardly clearing my throat while the lady behind the frying pan texts on her phone.

Been looking to dive into the Jian Bing experience and had the opportunity to do so. Our order took a bit since it was around 10:30am and it looked like the staff was prepping for the lunch rush when we arrived. Pleasantly surprised by the flavor that it packed (a subtle mixture of sweet/savory) and how the wonton crisp held its texture and crunch. The brown sugar Dalgona coffee was ice heavy and being whipped was gone in a heartbeat - probably a skip next time. Interest peaked and will probably give it another go.

Great Chinese fusion, I’m guessing Tianjin right? Looove the pork floss one, simply amazing. Not quite into the pulled pork though, a little wet for me.

Great Jianbing! It's in a French market, where there're also many hidden gems to go for a try.

I really like my jianbing. They put a crispy piece of something in every one and it is so tasty. It can be a little bit of a long wait but if you've ever seen one being made, you'd understand why. The owner is really nice and we just wandered around the stall until we found seating.

We came a long way with great anticipation, but we were highly disappointed by the disappointing service attitude. The staff showed no interest in answering our questions, which left us feeling extremely let down

Very nice to find a jianbing place in Chicago! It had a lot of flavor and the contrast between the crunchy wonton and crepe wrapping was excellent! I wish it did come with more veggies included instead of as add-ons.

Love that there's finally a jianbing option in the loop. It's probably more like 4.5 stars because it needed a little extra hoisin or sriracha or something to further elevate the flavors in the jianbing. It wasn't overly greasy which is a common jianbing problem. It was a good portion and everything was well cooked and well put together which made it easy to eat. Lot of sweeter flavors than spicy flavors. Will definitely get again and would try a couple of the different proteins
