Overall it was a great experience. We did the tableside Omasake and it was tasty. The Japanese Whiskey selection was great and service was amazing. Highly recommend.

Exceeded all expectations. Was a bit hesitant at first - in a distillery, dry aged, etc... wow! Just wow!!! This is an absolute sleeper on the Chicago Sushi Omakase circuit. Highly recommend. Hospitality through the roof, top down - starting at Tony the GM. Get here, NOW!

Jinsei Motto is hands down the best Japanese restaurant in Chicago! The fish is incredibly fresh, and every dish has such thoughtful and well-balanced seasonings and toppings. I absolutely love the omakase experience here — it’s always a treat and offers amazing value, especially if you come for the lunch omakase. The quality of the fish is top-notch, and the ambience makes the experience even more enjoyable. The chefs are super friendly, making each visit feel personal and memorable. Highly recommend for anyone craving high-quality Japanese cuisine in the city!

First time omakase experience.
Ingredients are expertly planned and executed. Hospitality is on point, gracious, and not stuffy.
This was exceptional and look forward to coming back!

Had an unreal experience at the Omakase with Jamal, he was amazing. Every single item was amazing. Unfortunately, there was an extremely rude bartender towards the end. She had the worst attitude, didn’t initially want to serve us and asked if we had just walked in and sat at the bar after the wait staff asked us to move to the bar after the Omakase. Due to this I wouldn’t go back just because of the rude bartender. I think if you spend $500 on Omakase the CH distillery restaurant should be the same experience. Very disappointed.

It was my first and last experience. I have had More delicious sushi’s in other places. We ordered two rolls and a combination grill.
The size of the food was much smaller in compare to the price.
I got a California King for $21? Nothing really special.
The miso soup was delicious. The grill combination was okay and normal. The portion size was smaller than expected.
Vegetarian options: Couldn’t find one
Parking: To the east of Fulton market. So less crowded, but still hard to find parking.
Kid-friendliness: Not kid-friendly. It’s more of a bar than restaurant.
Wheelchair accessibility: the restaurant is flat with no stairs, but the tables are high.

Excellent omakase that is innovative and creative. I might suggest not so much caviar topping.
Definitely one of my new favorites in Chicago. Will be coming back on special occasions.
Also they have an impressive collection of whiskey on offer. Hibiki 21.
The atmosphere is relaxed which I really appreciate in an omakase.

Absolutely delicious, we did table side omakase for my brother in law’s 50th and everyone had a great meal! Cocktails also were delicious:)
Kid-friendliness: My two kids shared one omakase experience and they both loved it! They are 7 and 8 for reference.

Wow. This is the best sushi I’ve had in Chicago, possibly ever. I had the crispy tuna starter, akami and sake nigiri, the seared miso salmon roll, and the spicy tuna roll. I would love to try other menu items next time, but this was also so amazing that I’m not sure I’ll be able to branch out. I didn’t even use the included soy sauce; it actually took away from the delicious flavors of the sushi. Highly recommend! I ordered for delivery and I imagine it’s even better in person.

Food was fantastic! Drinks were okay, but not great for the price. Service was good, but not as polished as I would expect for the price point.
