Excellent Thai food! The beef curry soup was perfect for the chilly weather. Would recommend the fried shrimp over the wings for the appetizers.

I genuinely regret not trying JJ Thai sooner. We’ve lived in this neighborhood for 1.5 years, walked past it countless times, and only ate here for the first time last week. The food was so good that we’ve already been back three times.
Highly recommend trying the Tiger Cry, Crab Fried Rice, Shrimp Fried Rice, Beef Salad, Papaya Salad — honestly, order anything and it’ll be delicious (at least in my experience). The staff is incredibly warm and welcoming, and the best part? It’s BYOB.
If you haven’t checked out this spot yet, you’re truly missing out. Whether you dine in or grab takeout, you’ll love it.

This is our favorite restaurant in all of Chicago. Our favorite dishes are the grilled beef salad, the crispy chicken salad, the beef panang curry, the grilled chicken, the sticky rice, the sweet pea flower tea, the Thai iced tea, but we've tried most dishes and you can't go wrong with any of them! This is a family-run restaurant and you can tell they have so much pride in sharing their food with us.

I always visit JJ when I’m in Chicago. Delicious and authentic Thai dishes- street food styles.
You can ask for spiciness of all dishes. The restrooms is spotless- a big plus for my mom.

First time having dinner at JJ Thai street food and wow! What a wonderful neighborhood restaurant. From the moment we walked in immediately greeted by kind people! Service was great as was the food! Thought the stainless steel water glasses were awesome. Loved the fresh coconut water. We unfortunately didn’t make it to dessert but hopefully next time.

Just OK Thai food. The portions are small for the prices. The waiters and waitresses rush you out asap. Definitely consider going to other Thai restaurants in the area!

J.J. Thai Street Food is a small, bustling restaurant along West Town’s busy W Chicago St serving up classic Thai street food staples. Try to make a reservation for popular dining times— my friends and I forgot to do so and waited ~45 min for a spot on a Friday night. The space is small and intimate, with limited seating.
I tried the following dishes:
- SP3 Tum Khao Pho (Corn Salad): This had a flavor profile similar to papaya salad— quite spicy and a little sour.
- A9 Gui Chay Tod (Tapioca Dumplings with Chives): This was really good— they make the tapioca skin crispier and stickier / more glutinous than many Thai places, which I really liked. The chive flavor was just right and not overpowering.
- N4 Bamee Hang Moo Daeng (Egg noodles with BBQ Pork without broth): A simple staple dish, these noodles were nice and buttery but overall the flavor was kind of lacking. I think I would’ve preferred noodles with broth, so that’s on me… the flavor and fullness just felt incomplete without a hearty broth.
Most entrees are between $14-18. Although I wasn’t wowed, I haven’t seen too many specialized Thai street food spots in Chicago, and I’d definitely be down to come again to try other dishes on the sizable menu!

Food was okay, but expensive. $20 for a small plate of pure rice and some beef?
There was literally no service and one of the waitresses was somewhat rude.

Used to love JJ’s, but the prices are high and the portions are minuscule. Ordered the SP2 Yum Hed mushroom dish ($17) and the E1 Nam Tok Neua Yan ($19), and got a to-go container that was maybe 1/4 full for each. There was a some inedible gristle in the ribeye.
It might have been better received if rice came with the dishes (as was described— but apparently it’s a few rice pieces as a garnish). It doesn’t. As delicious as the flavor is, it’s hard not to feel like you just got ripped off. It’s just so much money for so little food. It’s a bummer.

They made a mistake packaging our take out orders but agreed to deliver the correct items. That is good service. I expected the sticky rice custard have coconut sauce instead of dry. The chicken wings are good. The crispy pork belly is only ok.
