I ordered Lamb Chops with collard greens and dressing with gravy 10000/10000 Drunk in love Hennessy drink 100/100. Our server Jay had excellent hospitality loved it definitely made us feel welcome made my girl feel special for her birthday well done Jay!!! 😊
Jay was our server & he was GREAT!!! MAKE Sure you ask for him! Good customer service, great communication and all. Pot roast empanadas was fire and oxtail rice. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Thanks again for making my birthday a great experience with you guys
The experience at this establishment was terrible ; many items on the menu they didn't have and the worst part is the food we did order came out cold. So if anyone ask about this restaurant it will be a “HARD PASS” for me
The pot roast empanadas were amazing and flavorful! Smothered red snapper really good and meaty!
My friends and I had an ultimate experience the food was flavorful and the portions were precise and our host Star was so polite and professional. The entire staff at this location are very attentive, professional and delivered exceptional service. This location is way better than the Hyde Park location.
Came in there for my husband birthday we order forgot cornbread food was
Absolutely the food and service was everything that would be the only reason I'm not on fire with mandatory 20% gratuity for just my husband and I. That food is so so so good and we went at happy hour all appetizers were $10. We order almost all off them and they all was very flavorful.
Presentation is good, food was okay.
This place was AWESOME.It was my mom's bday and we decided to bring her here.We had heard mixed reviews but wanted to try it for ourselves.Definitely didn't disappoint. From the moment we walked in the service and ambiance was great. The waitress was sooooo nice and made us feel so comfortable. She wasn't overbearing or pushy.awe asked for recommendations and everything she recommended was great. We definitely would go back but above all I want to make sure the waitress is praised Her name is India and just her attitude alone would bring us back.Great job India!!!
The first time I was there September 2nd ( Houston)everything was great food was good service was excellent
BUT the next week September 10th the food was Horrible everything was salty I had dressing very salty the yams was a mix between can and day old whole very nasty the oxtail was dry old and a lot of browning sauce which has a bitter taste they charge 2 dollars gravy that was condiment sides and didn't inform me and 5 dollars for strawberry lemonade that had some red syrup at bottom of the glass didn't let me know that was 1 dollar extra maybe it wasn't the same chef
But come on just seem like chi town roaching!!

High priced and low quality.
This is some high priced soul food that tastes no better than anywhere else. I bought two carry out orders totaling 74.88 with no left overs. One scoop of sides. The food was good but no different than any other soul food place. The difference is the price tag. There were several young people in the restaurant, buying drinks and having hors d’oeuvres.
The food is too high and not worth it. The food was good the portion small. My family and I have been wanting to go there so we bought two plates today. I should’ve saved the money. All I can say is at least I tried it.
I was prepared to share the pictures of the portion sizes of the food, but I am not able to upload so you can judge from yourself whether you think the food was worth the price.
Food was OK, but certainly not worth the price. The prices are probably inflated for Hyde Park.

My sister, her husband and I were in town for the Chris Brown concert. It was our last night so we stopped in on 8/30/2025 around 9:15, 9:30. We got valet parking only for the guy to park literally across the street. WE COULD'VE DID THAT! As we entered Chris (I think) a server with dreads was at the bar and yelled across the room to inform us that he'd be with us. That is not how you greet folks. We eventually got sat and when I tell you the service was slowwwwwwwww.... There was a couple seated next to us that had already been there, but left as they were waiting so long for their food. We told the server that we were in town and it was our first time at that spot. To which he could not care less about or give any enthusiasm. At least fake it, but no he was so nonchalant. I try to give my people a chance and theres always one, two or a few that ruin it. I got the catfish, collards, yams and peach cobbler which were all visually appealing. Unfortunately, the fish was over cooked, and salty. The collards actually tasted pretty good, but also had too much salt which ended up giving me a headache. The yams definitely did not taste homemade and there was nothing special about them. The peach cobbler wasn't anything like I've had before! I can make one better than that! It was very bland, sloppy and unsweetened. Didn't taste homemade or like any love was used. In all for this place to have the audacity to charge 20% gratuity for this horrible service along with food is insane. Save your money and go to The Duplex!!!!!! It's a whole vibe there!

Small restaurant, we didn't have reservations. Quite surprised they weren't crowded in a Fri evening. Perhaps the location. They have 9 booths with a couple bar seats. Each booth seats 4. We ordered oxtails with string beans and sweet potatoes. Short rib with dressing and mac and cheese. Fried green tomatoes and deviled eggs for appetizers. The deviled eggs were too sweet for me. Fried tomatoes were ok, came with a sauce that reminded me of a sweet gravy. The dressing and string beans came out cold. We had to send them back to be warmed up. Mac and cheese was good. Not the best but doable. The oxtails and short ribs were delectable. They charge $2 extra for EVERYTHING. If you want cranberry sauce, jerk sauce, anything it's $2.

Arrived to the restaurant on Saturday August 30th 2025 at around 9pm had to wait about around 30/45 minutes for two people due to the restaurant seating that was limited, and only two workers with it being super busy. After getting sat it took about 15 minutes to get greeted and our entire order taken. Ordered the lamb chops medium, oxtails, and two alcoholic beverages. It took 30/45 min to get the two drinks and about an hour to get the food from the time we ordered. The lamb chops came out over well done, the oxtails were fatty, and the broccoli was burnt. Didn't leave until 11:15 pm purely due to just waiting not actually enjoying the stay. Also they auto gratuity 20% thus leaving the service lacking.
Observed SEVERAL tables have food issues while we were there, rather it was overcooked food or wrong sides given.
TLDR: Service was super slow, the kitchen took a long time and the food came out horrible.
