Joy Yee Reviews
This restaurant has unfortunately gone downhill. The food quality has noticeably declined—our noodles were hard and rubbery, the tapioca in our drinks was also hard, and the Pad Thai noodles looked and tasted completely different than before. Overall, the food was very disappointing.
The service experience made things worse. We were not informed that the restaurant now automatically adds a 20% gratuity to every table. As long-time customers, we were accustomed to gratuity...read full review
Food doesn’t taste the same, they’ve lowered the quality of their ingredients. Worst of all they leave the itemized receipt out of your check and don’t mention a 20% service charge which is a tip, but you won’t know that because it’s only on a itemized receipt that they DONT give you. Joy Yee is an absolute gem for Asian cuisine! The menu is extensive, with everything from bubble tea to delicious noodle dishes. I loved the vibrant flavors and generous portions—perfect for sharing. The service was quick, and the food came out fresh and hot. It’s always busy, but worth the wait. Highly recommend if you’re in the mood for authentic, tasty Asian food!

Joy Yee is a popular restaurant known for its Americanized Asian cuisine, with several locations in the Chicago area. While the food may not be entirely authentic, it offers a variety of favorites, including bubble tea, smoothies, and lunch specials. Customers especially enjoy the Grass Jelly With Coconut Milk smoothie and the Orange Tofu lunch special, which provides a generous portion and a moderate level of spice. Many visitors have loved the seafood soup, a favorite from earlier years, and praise the quality and value of the food, despite some price increases since past visits.
The restaurant's menu features typical Americanized dishes, but the quality remains high, and the staff generally provides quick seating and friendly service. The restaurant's multiple locations, including in Chinatown and Roscoe Village, make it convenient for many customers. Although it faced some challenges during the pandemic, such as inconsistent hours and staffing issues, Joy Yee continues to serve loyal customers who enjoy the Asian fusion dishes and delicious drinks, especially in summer. Overall, Joy Yee remains a well-loved spot for great food and drinks in the Chicago area.
