I almost died because there was a piece of metal in my boba smoothie. The smoothie was very delicious until I spit out a piece of metal. I do not recommend.

I’ve been to this place multiple times, and unfortunately, the experience is consistently disappointing. The food isn’t very flavorful, the portions are overly large, and the prices feel unjustifiably high, at times, I’ve even wondered if we were being overcharged.

What really ruins the experience, though, is the service. The server always seems to rush the entire dining process. From the moment you sit down, he hovers impatiently, pressuring you to order right away. On our most recent visit, he misunderstood our order and brought the wrong dish. Throughout the meal, he kept returning to the table—often unprompted—watching us closely and interrupting our conversations to try and pack up our food before we were even finished eating. It felt intrusive and uncomfortable, like we were being pushed out before we were ready.

The rushed, overly attentive service, combined with underwhelming food, makes dining here more stressful than enjoyable. Honestly, the experience gives me indigestion. I wouldn’t recommend this place. There are better options out there with better food, better service, and more respect for their guests’ time.

Used to absolutely love coming to Joy Yee Noodle during my undergrad & grad school in Chicago during 2008/2009/2010. Favorite spot for seafood soup with all my friends (Paul, James, etc).

I came here because it is located near my hair salon, I ordered the Korean Beef ribs to go. My food came out 3 minutes later. I live in Rogers Park, so I didn't get home until about 50 minutes later. I took a bite and it was tasty until I found 2 pieces of hair. I was super hungry and coming from a 5 hour hair appointment so i threw it out and kept eating. I found more pieces of gray hair, a total of 5 or 6. Since my food cam out so fast, I assumed they make a big batch and give it to customers as they order so called to notify them that there was a lot of hair in the food and they should double check that batch before giving it to more customers. The worst part is that the beef was decent enough. I just couldn't bring myself to finish it.

For those that have read my reviews, I might think I like everything...not true. I only write reviews on places I like. Joy Yee is a place I love. I've been a solid Joy Yee customer for multiple years. I've only been to this one on Halsted twice, but it up holds the quality that Joy Yee is known for. Great Asian fusion, outrageously delicious drinks. Summer time longs for drinks in China Town. Again, I'm a major fan. I think you should try Joy Yee out and bet you will be too!

Food is good and always consistent. However, the waiter was not attentive. I had to walk up to the counter for the check.

On another note, I wish they would consider changing their decor. It's giving cafeteria vibes.

Joy Yee is an absolute gem for Asian cuisine! The menu is extensive, with everything from bubble tea to delicious noodle dishes. I loved the vibrant flavors and generous portions—perfect for sharing. The service was quick, and the food came out fresh and hot. It’s always busy, but worth the wait. Highly recommend if you’re in the mood for authentic, tasty Asian food!
