My sister and I dined here today but we ended up leaving quickly because our server made us so uncomfortable. From the beginning he was giving us a lot of compliments and it seemed innocent at first but then he kept taking further asking if we had boyfriends and if we would go out with him, ect. Then he sat right next to my sister and when she tried to scoot away from him he reached over and grabbed her leg to pull her back over and told her she didn’t have to do that. After that we felt so uncomfortable we decided to leave as soon as possible. I have worked in the service industry for years and I am blown away by the way this man acted towards my sister and I. Truly the most unprofessional and creepy service I have ever experienced.

Breakfast is easy to find all around the city, so I'm surprised this place continued to expand. From their embarrassingly overpriced cinnamon breakfast roll (it's $12) to the slowest service on both occasions going there. Jammed into this place like a sardine with a noisy atmosphere made waiting 15 minutes before a server even came by, was the start both times I went. Don't expect coffee refills unless you flag someone down. It's not for lack of effort exactly, staff just seem laid back and confused. The food is good enough, sometimes presented nicely but sparring in ingredients considering the price, like the feta or goat cheese omelette. They give you a lot of potatoes and they're not that tasty. Overall it's average, but for the price there's better places. There's just nothing that stands out here except mediocre service.

My home away from home. Love this reliable neighborhood spot, especially for breakfast/brunch! It is conveniently located on Old Town on Wells (parking available most days), and the staff is always so welcoming and upbeat. Special shout out to Cesar who runs a tight and efficient ship...always with a smile on his face and a warmth so many fast-paced establishments like this one lack. I will continue to be a loyal customer, so keep up the good work!

Pretty much felt like any other brunch place. It was very clean the service was pretty okay. The food looks really good but I found some things to be way too salty. My main meal was the crab cake Benedict which I do not recommend at all. The crab cake tasted incredibly cheap and was way too fried. It's also not crab it's imitation crab. Also the sauce is either too liquidy or too firm depending on how hot it is on the Benedict. The eggs were also overpoched.

The bathrooms are nice though.

It's been a while since I've been to this place. The food is delicious, but the service is super bad. The girl who served us is amazing, her bad service is impressive. I asked for a coffee and she never brought it to me. I had to ask a guy who wasn't my waiter. 👎

Having been a regular customer at Kanela Old Town since its opening I was away for the past few years.
I recently came back and found the same excellence in hospitality and dining.
Breakfast dishes are of great quality and reasonably priced. Coffee is the best!
Cesar, the manager for several years, does an excellent job at keeping the place going. He is friendly, welcoming and it is easy to tell he has trained the staff well. I commend Cesar for his years of service to Kanela and for his professional management. He remembers guests and treats them well!
Best dish on the menu is the Lorraine Scramble. It is consistently delicious and most satisfying for breakfast.
Kudos to Kanela on Wells and to the staff!l

I come here frequently for the tiff, service and vibe. Caesar always treats us well! Makes the place welcoming.. pancakes the best on Wells and the hash and chilaquiles are the best! Today Maria was are server and was so on point! Truly recommend this place to everyone!

Unfortunately the kitchen staff may have been having an “off” day. We had a group of 6 on a Sunday around brunch, but were seated rather quickly. Our server was super pleasant, but seemed newer to serving, which we were ok with. After taking our drink orders she disappeared for about 15mins, but apologized for delay when she came back. She continued to take orders around us, but we believe she didn’t realize she had not taken our order, so that was about another 20min wait. Once our breakfast orders were placed there was about an hour wait for our food. The kitchen is open to the guests and staff were seen visibly arguing back and forth w staff continuously getting upset and walking out of kitchen to avoid 1 particular chef/cook bc he kept scolding them. Our server kept apologizing & it was obvious she felt bad for the situation. At this point the restaurant was not as busy, so not sure why the delay or conflict. Once our food arrived it was delicious! I would be willing to try this restaurant again and hope it was just a bad day for the employees.
