Happy:- Right next to the lakefront trail- Huge variety of breakfast/brunch options- 2 restrooms (though not public)- Food tasted fantastic- Has espresso & drip coffee- Counter with electric outlets- No wait time- Indoor & outdoor seatingCrappy:- Some food items are not cooked to orderVegetarian options: I’m not a vegetarian, but I got an egg white omelette and it was fantastic. It’s not cooked to order, though, because I tried to add chorizo and they said they could put it on the side.

Found this little gem just a small walk away from our hotel. The churro waffle is out of control! I cannot wait to return to Chicago because we will be coming back here for sure!!! If you are in the area this is a great spot for breakfast or brunch, you won't be disappointed !!

The service was okay and the staff was really friendly. The food itself could have been a bit better.

There were 6 of us and we each ordered something different but we all offered each other bites of our food, it was all delicious! From the chilaquiles to the Kanela churro Waffle, everything tasted spectacular. My mocha latte was ? perfect. We look forward to coming again.

Mid-Monday morning before we catch our flight... so glad we made the short walk to this spot. We were greeted immediately by a very nice young lady who was also our server. They have free wifi and an online menu you'll need to scan the code for. Great choices for adults and kids. The diner itself is open with lots of seating. On a nice day, there's plenty of outdoor space as well. We tried the churro waffle, lemon-blueberry pancakes, chicken & waffles, the salmon lox bagel, and thus little one got a full breakfast--pancake, bacon, & egg. EVERYTHING was truly delicious! Serving size was food for someone hungry! The chicken wasn't too salty and was seasoned nicely! The waffles were a super airy texture that melted in your mouth!

Potato was from yesterday, avocado overripe, California Benedict was so bitter. I'm disappointed. Service was ok. Ambiance is clear but smell garlic, you have to change your clothes after your breakfast.

We live across the street from this place. There is always a line. It is diner vibe but with high ceiling and healthier food options than the average diner. It is first come first serve so have to get there early. The food is generally good. It won't blow your mind but it is fresh with decent selection.

Stopped in before an appointment and had a breakfast burrito with bacon. Overall it was fine, but nothing to write home about. Cheese was uninspiring and didn't add much flavor, the avocado was fresh but cut too thickly. Side of fruit wasn't impressive - strawberries looked and tasted pretty sad and pineapple was also poorly looking. Will I be back? Probably not, but maybe it was an off day?

My recent visit to Kenelas was nothing short of fantastic. The atmosphere exuded relaxation, providing the perfect ambiance for a delightful meal. From the moment I walked in, the service was impeccable, with attentive staff ensuring a pleasant dining experience.I opted for the chicken and waffles, and I must say, it was truly amazing. The combination of tender chicken and perfectly cooked waffles.

Relaxing atmosphere, spectacular food! Started with the Kanela churro waffles, hazelnut latte, & OJ. Waffles were so light and delicious and the crème it’s served with compliments the waffle perfectly! Just the right amount of sweet. Main courses were California Benedict and chicken and waffles. Neither disappointed!!!!

Had an egg white veggie omelette and hubby had a chorizo and egg combo. Everything about the food and the service was great. There were so many yummy choices on the menu - Waffles, Monkey Bread, Cinnamon Rolls and many different savory egg dishes and sandwiches. A great solid choice - and close enough to the lake that you can walk one block over and take a stroll after breakfast.

Came in for. Breakfast today and slowest service ever. Haven't been here for years. We have one question??? Where is ROB?? He was incredible and what a genuine person who always took care of us. Hopefully management will read.

Food is good. Service is bad. Makes sense since they take 20% gratuity off the top. Server never came back to check up on us. Had to ask twice for water & I didn't know asking for coffee refill was so hard. The worst part was the place was not even busy.
