Loved every single bit of this!! My best friend took me for my birthday celebration and it was amazing. We had the strawberry orange juice mimosa mix and it was delicious!! The food was light and excellent and the server was so sweet! Definitely will be coming back!! Thank you Kanela's!!

ive been trying to keep coming here and give them a chance but im finally done. there were only two other people today when i went in at 12:45pm, so not exactly busy on a tuesday, and i asked for a cappuccino. this is what she slammed down in front of me and expected me to drink like a pig drinking from a trough i suppose? because how would you even drink this? how do you mess up a cappuccino? lol this place is a joke. the food is really inconsistent, no one can make a cappuccino, and the staff is not exactly nice so im thinking the owners probably dont pay their employees enough. ill be going out of my way to never go here again.

We went around 11am and there were only 2 other tables dinning. The place is pretty spacious and the tables were not very close to each other, unlike some restaurants. We ordered cappuccino which tasted amazing, we also ordered the California Benedict and build-your-own Skillet, the flavor of the dishes were good. I like the Benedict. However, for the skillet, the price of each additional item in the skillet is way too much as they only give you 2 little pieces of each additional items….instead they put a lot of potatoes in the skillet….I wouldn’t be as disappointed if they actually put more additional items in the skillet. And as I am writing this review and looking at the recipe, I realized we didn’t get the avocado we paid for on the skillet….

Overpriced for the neighborhood. Lacking in selection. Bacon is horrible. Food seems prepared in a careless and indifferent

Kanela remains the only negative review I’ve given for a place on Yelp… bad service the 3 times I’ve been and my eggs are always over cooked. I don’t CARE if people always hype this place up it is simply not good.

the starters (monkey bread, greek yogurt) were great. i ordered the brux waffle with a side of pork sausage. the waffle came burnt and crispy and the sausage came cold. i didnt enjoy either very much. my s/o ordered 3 eggs with a shortstack side. the bacon that came with the eggs was cold but his meal was good overall.

It took 45 minutes from the moment I sat down to when I got my food... Single eggs Benedict order. They were critically understaffed for a Friday, I only saw 1 guy cooking. Imagine coming with a large group. Your 1 hour of parking will be up before you get your food LMAO

This picture WAS my red velvet French toast... Our server, Nicole (hey girl hey ?), recommended it over all the other French toast offerings. It is not truly "toast", it's like cake but they pair it with a magnificent cream cheese drizzle, strawberries, and whip cream... it's not overly sweet, it's PERFECTION! TRUST ME!! My husband Ordered the chicken and waffles and he loved it as well. This place has spectacular food and service. 5+ stars!

The chorizo and eggs were amazing! The coffee and latte that my gf had were among the best we had in Chicago! The service was friendly and timely. The atmosphere and aesthetics were nice as well. Overall everything was really great! Will go back and highly

location of this restaurant is great. went for brunch for on Sunday (post the hot chocolate run).food is good, but the service could have been better. they were clearly understaffed and the it took us a ton of time to get the server's attention. The servers were courteous, but it took us forever to get us our food/ water. They also over roasted the coffee, but that happens.I would go back, if it was not busy. but the location is spot on.

Good food, but lousy service.I put my name and number on the waitlist. Hostess said it would be 25 minutes and I'd get a text. Forty-five minutes passed and nothing. Asked the hostess what was going on and she told me someone took my place. I got a half-hearted apology and we were finally seated. One of us has a serious mushroom allergy and stressed the sandwich they ordered couldn't have them. Waiter brought a sandwich with mushrooms that had them and we had to send it back. Same hostess who gave our table away asked if we should keep the fork that touched the mushrooms.Clearly these people don't care about sending diners to the hospital!

We had the chicken and waffles and that was good and it was not chicken strips. I tried their monkey bread and it wasn’t bad and my sister had the red velvet French toast and she liked it.

We came on a Saturday for brunch and was able to walk in. Loved the fried chicken sandwich and coffee was decent.

I walk past Kanela a lot and decided to pop in on a whim. It was a Saturday around 10am, and was able to get a table with no problem. I got the cheesy breakfast sandwich with the herb roasted potatoes. I'm not normally an egg fan, but these eggs were super fluffy and delicious. It got busier at the end of our time here, but luckily they have a scan to pay option! We will be back.
