Plan on getting here early or be prepared to wait! Not the biggest establishment but I can tell why people love it

Pastries were delectable! Strongly recommend to order pastries and drinks to go. Food was pretty expensive. Definitely a more buy-the-vibe sorta place. Still really great overall.

Very busy and long wait lines. Food is not flavorful. Overhyped.

We really like this place, the food was awesome! At this point you know that the food is amazing, so I will focus on the only issue related with this venue, waiting for hours on a line outside to get in. You should be prepared that it might take up to two hours outside, in our case was around 90 min at 20F (on Fri, 11-12:30). It did worth the wait, but you should be prepared for weather and the amount of time you will be on the line. Another option, to try the Kasama food is to order online and to pick it up, it takes few minutes to do that. So pick your poison:)
To summarize, the place is definitely a gem, the food is remarkable, just be prepared that you wont be only people at this place. Bon Appetit!

Best breakfast sandwich on the planet! Their Ube latte was also incredible. All the pastries I got knocked my socks off. Definitely want to come back and dine in sometime.

Honest Review of Kasama (Wednesday ~10 AM Visit)
I visited Kasama today with my family after hearing countless glowing reviews online. I went in with an open mind — hype or not, I wanted to understand what people love about this place. Unfortunately, the experience fell far below expectations.
Service (1/5)
We were seated after a short 5-minute wait, but service declined quickly from there.
The waiter seemed uninterested, untrained, or simply having a bad day.
When I asked for recommendations, he simply pointed at the chicken adobo or mushroom adobo without any explanation.
There were no follow-ups — no “How is everything?” or “Do you need anything else?”
Despite this, the tablet automatically suggested a 22% tip, which felt inappropriate given the level of service.
Overall, the interaction felt uncomfortable and borderline rude — not at all what I expect from a highly acclaimed restaurant.
Coffee (1/5)
We ordered two coffees. They had crema, but almost no flavor.
Honestly, McDonald’s coffee tastes better.
Filipino Breakfast (1.5/5)
This dish is heavily praised online, so I really gave it the benefit of the doubt. But temperature and texture issues completely ruined it.
The plate was barely warm when served.
The sandwich bread was soggy.
The hashbrown lacked any crispiness.
The egg was high quality but had no seasoning or flavor.
The sausage patty had a strange porky smell — almost like a pre-cooked patty reheated in a microwave rather than freshly grilled.
Chicken Adobo (1/5)
Served lukewarm again.
The sauce had a bitter soy aftertaste.
The coconut flavor tasted artificial.
The sweetness was overwhelming and didn’t blend with the dish at all.
Overall, it genuinely tasted reheated rather than freshly prepared.
Black Truffle Croissant (1/5)
This was especially disappointing.
The rock sugar on top was nice — if you know what I mean.
But the Délice de Bourgogne cheese filling tasted off: sour, dull, and lacking buttery richness.
My daughter even asked if it was spoiled.
Final Thoughts
Kasama felt overpriced, with poor service, lukewarm reheated food, and noticeable quality issues — things you would never expect from a restaurant with a 2-star Michelin reputation. And to be clear, I wasn’t judging it as a Michelin restaurant today — just as a neighborhood breakfast spot. Even by that standard, it fell short.
I have no desire to return, and I would not recommend it for breakfast. There are many better local restaurants that serve fresher food, better flavor, and far better service.

Very cute interior but we ordered pickup bc of how busy it gets. I see why it's such a viral sensation. Their breakfast sandwich is up there with the best I've ever had. The longanisa is such an excellent touch that gives it a flavor that stands out. Got several pastries and each one was fantastic. Service was a little hectic but given how slammed they were they handled the traffic pretty well. Would recommend takeout unless you're dead set on dining in and cool waiting in line for what seemed like would've taken an hour+.

This was our second attempt to eat at Kasama, and I’m so glad this time the line was a bit shorter and it was warmer outside, because it was worth it.
We got to try several of the pastries, including the Matcha Pandan Eclair, the Black Truffle Croissant (WOW), the Ube and Huckleberry Basque Cake. All of them delicious, but don’t eat them all to start, as you need space for the main course.
We ordered the Chicken Adobo (complete standout), the Filipino Breakfast with tocino (the most flavorful tocino ever), the Kasama combo sandwich (maybe my least favorite but loved by others) and the longaniza breakfast sandwich (so simple and delicious).
The Dario coffee is delicious as well as the red bean sesame cold brew. We also got some espresso martinis and a mimosa, and although they were good, they were very small.
I would definitely come back and had a fantastic experience at Kasama!

Went here with high expectations since it has two stars. Ordered the Filipino breakfast and my first impression was that it needed salt. Overall the dish was lacking. My partner and I left unsure how/why the joint is so highly regarded. Maybe we are missing something - perhaps the dinner is killer?

Kasama is hands down one of the best spots in Chicago for an unforgettable meal. The fusion of Filipino classics with contemporary flavors is a game changer. The crispy pork belly and adobo are top-tier, and the cocktails are refreshing. Cozy yet lively atmosphere, perfect for a date or dinner with friends. Definitely coming back this coming 2026!

It's a good restaurant but unsure how this received 2 stars and is supposed to compare to other 2 star restaurant. Good food overall but hard to not compare to others and have this be a solid single star.

Adobe chicken, breakfast sandwich and latte was soooo good. Amazing service, friendly staff and very attentive. I was leaving town to drive 4.5 hours but this place was well with the wait in line and time. Well done Kasama!

This experience was amazing! The food was delicious with a creative fusion that balances filipino flavor with American tastes. The service was a ten out of ten, being respectful and making sure guests were comfortable. I came with expectations for the food and was not let down, but the taste of the pastries were a pleasant surprise as well. Overall, I would definitely recommend trying this cafe and coming back!
