Very nice restaurant. Our first experience with Cambodian food. We loved the flavors. We sat at the bar, the service was erratic and at times felt condescending. Broken plates, mistakes in the food brought by to the person next to us, and empty plates piled up at the bar counter.
Loved the original khmai! This version is a little odd. Wish you could mix and match things from the 'fine dining' side and the 'casual' side. Not enough variety on the fine dining side. Also, some of the worst service I have had in awhile. Pacing and timing was totally off. We had en entree come before an appetizer. Dessert took 30 minutes to come with no acknowledgement.
Overall, Khmai was good. It was very interesting to learn about the cuisine of Cambodia, specifically the varieties of vegetables and meats that they serve. I definitely recommend getting the beef skewers, grilled steak/bone marrow, the chicken dish, as well as the branzino. Some of these dishes are seasonal, so they may not be offered depending on when you go.
