Food is delicious and higher than my expectation, tried 160/person omakase menu 1/2025. I like the first course lobster soup. Then my favorite would be the nigiri course and I especially like various flavors on the top of fish. And the egg custard course is good. Basically every dish is good. I would like to try again when they change the menu.

We came for the new year’s eve omakase. Everything was delicious and looked beautiful. The service was a little slow but thats probably due to it being busy on a holiday and I didn’t really mind. I really enjoyed the hello kitty cocktail (it comes with a cute sticker). We also got the extra course of tuna and it melted in our mouths. Id love to come back :)

After much research, we chose the fixed menu for the 5-course New Year's Eve dinner. I confess that I was a little apprehensive, but I was completely and pleasantly surprised. All five courses, including the additional wagyu beef we ordered, were delicious. Highlights include the lobster and mushroom soup, the tomato tartare, and the black sesame dessert. My God! Divine! Everything was perfect. The only downside I could mention is that there wasn't an option to store coats, which was a bit inconvenient. High marks to the chef!
Kid-friendliness: Absolutely not.

Incredible time at Komo. The food is certainly delicious and uses high quality ingredients. Some of the best bites of sushi I have had are here and the rolls are beautifully creative and scrumptious. The service (our server was Willy) was very kind, attentive and anticipated any needs. They made fantastic recommendations. I really can’t wait to come back here!

We had a great time at Komo - the service was awesome and the ambience was great for a dinner with my husband and dad: modern but pretty quiet. They have a set menu but we went for nigiri and rolls since we prefer primarily raw fish - everything we had was fantastic. Nigiri was really tasty with the light toppings they put on it and rolls were some of the best I’ve had, very unique. It’s definitely not cheap but I don’t expect a place like this to be. We used an InKind promo code to get 50$ off and though we didn’t make it on time the weekday happy hour seemed to be a great deal too!

Wow, everything was fantastic, from the service to the ambiance and the food. Every dish was absolutely delicious. Plus, their incredible HAPPY HOUR (5:00-7:00 PM) is a must-try. Highly recommend!

Our waiter was great, very attentive. I had heard so much hype about the place but was not impressed with the food at all. It didn't really stand out. I've had better Nigiri at other less upscale restaurants. It wasn't anything that stood out to me. The decor and staff were great.

Fabulous! Service was exquisite & the sashimi & nigiri were to die for. I have especially high standards for sashimi & this meal blew me away. They were appropriately attentive to a dietary restriction & took it very seriously as they went to lengths to accommodate this.
beautiful restaurant! my go to for happy hour. $15 tuna + crispy rice & 1/2 off select cocktails (the hello kitty was yummy)

We dined at KOMO on July 26th to celebrate my mom's birthday, and we had a wonderful time. The food, drinks, and service were superb, and I heartily recommend this place for anyone who's as enthusiastic about Japanese cuisine as we are.
To get my least favorite part out of the way first, I'll just say I found the atmosphere less than congruent with the quality of this restaurant. It doesn't really look or feel like a place you're going to get food as amazing as you're indeed going to get. The lighting is nice, but I found the fake sakura to be bordering on tacky. And while I know dress codes are no longer the done thing in Chicago, I wish there was some way to discourage people from wearing literal baseball caps and shorts inside. I understand that staff can't control this, but it seriously detracts from the overall sophistication of the restaurant, so perhaps a friendly recommendation on the website, in lieu of a strict dress code, could help.
Now for the food. I would have this tasting menu again in a heartbeat. My mom has some dietary restrictions re: meat that were well accommodated. I myself am not the most adventurous eater in the world, but I decided to just go with the menu as it was, and I'm glad I did! The lobster consommé was subtle but well-spiced; the chawanmushi had the dreamiest silky consistency; the three nigiri, which were served with increasing strength of flavor, were so fresh (I mean, obviously), and even as someone who sticks to pretty mild fish, I loved every one. The wagyu was my favorite. Quite possibly some of the best, most flavorful meat I've ever tasted. I had two rounds of the Yuzu Komo cocktail, which was recommended to me when I mentioned enjoying drinks with a slight sweetness and a good citrus flavor.
Alas, I waited too long to write this review and have forgotten our waitress's name, but if any restaurant management is reading this review, I hope you can find out who served us and give her a raise. She was gracious, energetic, and funny, a completely natural charmer, and a delightful presence who elevated an already fabulous experience.
I sincerely hope to dine here again!

Paid ahead of time for a birthday reservation. Got sat at a table at n the back, beautiful with great vibe. Hubby wanted to sit at the booth behind us, same room so that the 3 of us could communicate better. I asked to be moved to that booth, but we got moved the the front of the restraunt where it was so loud we could not hear each other unless we yelled. The booth was full be but the table was too big for the booth so in order for us to fit, we had to push it into the isle... And no were not obese people or even fat. The tasting menu was mediocre. The soup we liked, the rest was just not great. There were several dishes I would not finish because they tasted bad. Hubby finished for me due to his need to clean a plate and not waste money. Last plate before desert was sushi. It smelled bad, tasted worse and I refused to eat but a tiny taste bite. It was slimy and stinky. Hubby and son finished theirs but could not finish any more of my food for me... They saw I didn't eat it they asked if all was ok... I finally was fed up with this expensive experience with no flavor and some just gross, went to say something but hubby's look told me he did not want the embarrassment. Also every person that came to my table to serve .. there were several, mentioned us having a more comfortable booth now and not in a friendly way... In a way to let us know we should have never asked for anything. I will NEVER go back and the way the staff treated us,and the bland food, I hope this review helps others save the 500.00 that I wasted. Oh. Hubby puked all night.... Hmmm. Yup. Bad sushi.

Juan, Willie and Zoey made our evening special.
The food, drinks and everything in between was surreal. All the Appetizers, Entree’s and Drinks were 10/10. Will be back for more!
